Killingback Slides

Post by Reeceracer »

Hi All, I've been meaning to share these slides with you for a while now after finding the perfect site to do so.....These were all taken by my father Max back in the 60's who was a good friend of Red Dawsons. Hence there is a collection of Dawson slides through the Willy's and Cooper/Brabham years. Also (bear with me as I transfer them over) there are some fantastic shots of Graham Hill, Jimmy Clark, etc when they raced at Puke GP.
Look forward to your comments.
Enjoy. Reece Killingback

Great pit shot of the era (who needs a garage) with Red's daughter Jackie, wife Nita, Red sitting, and my mum Carole.

I'm pretty sure that the black Mk1 Zephyr with the cutaway rear guards was owned and driven by one Spinner Black. He sold it to Alan Pearce of Taupo in 1965. Great shots Reece. Looking forward to seeing some more.

Nigel- you are correct about the black MK1 Zephyr.
I have a pic from Puke 4th April 1964 showing it sidelined at hairpin at Puke ,cut out guards are covered with something

One of the things that I recall about Allcomers in the 60's was how rough & ready they were - and these photos confirm that. Nothing fancy like today. Must admit I prefer smooth straight panels and a nice paint job anyday.

Yep, sometimes it takes a couple of goes, don't know why as I'm not doing anything different....but I now know to check and fix straight away if neccessary. Should be good now, Cheers, Reece.
