Escort sports sedan (Australia)

Hi all

Just came across this great forum and had to join straight away!

18months ago I got a old sports sedan from maffra in Victoria, I'm not certain but I think it is a old group c car turned into a sports sedan. It had a mid mount turbo 350 Chev and has a mazda tear end with commodore front suspension and steering and holden brakes the whole way around.

Just wondering out of interest while I rebuild the car (with a 250bhp holden 202 I have) does anyone recognise the car and possible have any history on it? I have found the 4 digit logbook number stamped on the strut top so I have a replacement cams logbook coming :)

Cheers
Matty

Sell the Holden and put another 350 chev in it. Will be a fun car.

Wow, that is cool! Do you have any info at all on it? I agree, stick a 350 Chev back in it. It'll be a heap of fun!

Matt, they sound horn with Chev pipes out side, get a crate engine to start, you will love it.

Because it had a Chevy is probably why its got no notable history, you can fix that :) put a 4.125" x 3.25" SBF with 8 into 1 exhaust and go get some podiums... those SBC things are museum pieces nowadays!

I saw somewhere that the sbc is the largest manufactured engine ever. Lots of parts, cheap, good motors. Normally I would say ford in an escort, but this one has some history there somewhere so why not stick to it.

I have a chev cobra and get sick of knockers, it has been a great motor, reliable, powerful and I don't care what the brand is.

Some people who misjudge me would suggest that I occasionally stir things up a bit as well :) :).... but even the museums are rejecting the chevs these days, hiding them out of sight....don't believe me... check out the latest happenings at the Corvette museum in Bowling Green Kentucky... :) some kind folk even suggest that Ford had something to do with it!!

All V8's sound great regardless of your favoured brand and the jokes between rival camps. One I recall is "do you know why they paint Ford motors blue..... so it doesn't frighten the fish.
