Hi guys, I got word today that Ivan Segedin is very ill and his future is not looking good!! although short notice we'd like to in a small way honour him at the festival in the HMC pits, so if anyone has pictures of him from the early years id like to get some posters done, Email to mailto:?subject=&body= and off-course he imported the first mustang into NZ and it went straight to the race track creating history itself!!
Lets all think of him and his family over the X-Mas/New Year holiday break
Thanks Dale .... very good of you to get the ball rolling ........never meet him but do remember his white & red anglia as a kid , he gave people like Kerry Grant ,Ernie, Paul , Rod etc a big hurry up in those hey daz.... seemed to be very fast as I remember .Grant
Ivan had a game boat up here in the Bay of Islands up until a few years back and I was lucky enough to spend some great nights sitting on boats and talking about days gone past. Nice guy and interesting to spend time with over a beer after a days Marlin fishing. Wishing Ivan the best.
Remember the Anglia and the racing team that quite a few of the Waikato racers were in. When he raced the Fleetwood Motors Mustang at Pukekohe I remember the thunder of the V8 and that nose up attitude under acceleration. Compared to the Lotus Cortina's it was an impressive beast. Not entirely successful but it certainly opened the door to the V8's
Thinking of Ivan and his family at this time - thanks for the memories.

Yes, I endorse those thoughts. There has been a few of late, and I know we can not change time and illness, but it still hits the nerve when you hear of a comrade passing. All Motorsport in New Zealand is indeed indepted to Ivan and family. Thank you for the memories and times shared Ivan.
RIP Ivan there is a Marlin out there with your name on it.

According to MSNZ archives Mike, although David Simpson won the outright 1966 NZ Saloon Car Championship in his Lotus powered Anglia, Ivan actually won the `Unlimited Class' for larger capacity engines, so he still won a NZ class title in the Mustang.

So Ivan was the Unlimited Saloon Car Champion for 1966 then Steve, in the Fleetwood Mustang?
Just getting RIP in Memory off stickers made now for the Festival!!

Not quite
Dave Simpson won the NZRDC Championship (for allcomers), which didn't have capacity classes
Ivan Segedin won the Over 1300 class of the separate MANZ Gp2 Championship
David, I realise you have a lot of knowledge, but if you google `Ivan Segedin Motorsport NZ' then go down to `Discontinued Race Championships'. Scroll right down the page and you will see for yourself. I was doing a bit of research for a `Memorial Trophy' for Ivan that I`m getting done for our HMC class at the Ferrari Festival and that`s how I came to read it. I didn`t put it on here to create an argument, I merely stated what was written about him in trying to do something out of respect for the guy.
