This is the Cheetah Race car transporter built on a 300 mercedes chassis around 1960 can you spot the chev El Camino roof section grafted in to the rest of the custom aluminium body, powered by a 327 and powerslide auto

Apparently this VW artic was used to tow a drag car and was seen at Calder park raceway, note the XY GT in the background

The above reminded me of the 10-car Transporter and trailer used in the early days of Formula Junior in 1959. It was run by Scuderia Madunina of Milan, who provided transport, mechanical and admin services for FJunior runners in Europe. Mostly Italians or Europeans in old-tech front-engined Stanguellini, Taraschi, Volpini etc.
I don't know what became of it when the British took over FJunior with light good-handling rear-engined cars.
Photo quality a bit dodgy, I'm sorry.

Hi All, Thought I'd throw a pic up of our rig - present time but still a bit old skool....and no - it doesn't have the petrol 4pot anymore. Thank goodness...

Very thoughtfully the "Gold Leaf Team Lotus" signage has been blurred so we don't get tempted to take up smoking.....

When I got it a few years back it already had a Mazda 3 litre diesel with 5 speed & splitter out of a Titan. That went alright but then I threw a Subaru turbo/skyline intercooler at it and it was like night and day! 20 Mins quicker from the Mount to Taupo racetrack with less fuel and gear changes! Why they made diesels without turbos is beyond me.....Nothing worse than a slow camper - there's enough on the roads already....

This is probably my favorite Speedway photo so should go in this thread.
Johnny Missan on left (the inventor of three quarter midget (TQ) racing in NZ used to travel down to NP to race at Waiwakahio Speedway in the mid 50's. Thats my father on the right, Johnny Callender.

Laurie, this is a great photo! Is that your dads Ford coupe? Looks like a 1938?

In this shot the Cooper Monaco and Cl;imax are just behind it, and closest to camera is John Youl's Cooper Climax.
Sadly when Stillwell retired at the end of 1965 the transporter was sold and became a furniture van. Such an inglorious ending.
