John - you are a marvel - you never fail to amaze me with your 'get on and get it done' attitude. We will all be keeping our fingers crossed but fully realize the pressure you are working under. Don't give yourself a hernia though.

The bonus is you have the Falcon to play in, and can finish Monaro properly in time. You have done marvels already, just take it as it comes cobber. Looking forward to seeing car and yourself.

Hirsty is the man, he is a 'real' mechanic, he fix's not replace's.

Done a lot of brilliant work on my toys over the years.

He has a history of 'making' things going way back to the 'Morrari' and before and has a neat little sports car at moment.

A black-bottomed car at last.
I can now stand the scrutiny of anyone now laying on their back trying to find any faults.
This weekend the car gets turned correct way up for all interior painting.
THEN it goes on its feet
Rear wheel arches dont get final treatment until wheel clearances are checked.

Back again after 4 months - my body needed some attention this time..
So , rear end in, front end complete with the Corvette brakes.
The rough and ready rear cross member which was made way back then out of box section and plate, lines up perfectly with the rear mounts of the Muncie -as if it had never been away- so the engine lowering and set back towards the firewall back then was accurate.
The modified mounting brackets on the front cross member are also correct.
After a lot of research and talking with the right people, I can see why after people had problems fitting an engine in the past, and its looking great now.
There will also be enough room for the Webers to breathe when the bonnets down- min 45mm.
Its a wonderful feeling now that I can see things fitting where they used to.

My most sincere thanks to Kevin Hirst for offers of assistance when I couldnt do anything - that cheered me up when I had to see the car upside down for so long and I couldnt turn it the right way up.

Been called a gunna at a recent race meeting , so I put a solid effort in Thurs to yesterday and feeling better for it.

All going well , will start organizing custom headers then start up maybe in a fortnight- starter motor, oil line, fuel etc.

Anyone need to use a rotissiere for a Monaro ?

Is that the same hood latch cross member we used to lean against and have a few beers after work and listen to Rod Coppins stories at Spinner's workshop on Thames Street in Morrinsville in 1969 ?

Ken- yes it is the original off the car, and that is the original Cambridge white.
It came off a maroon car from a wrecker, painted white then the bonnet lock bolted on. This panel was later painted black.
Once the bonnet lock was removed, the paint from 1969 was sitting there- neat.
Car was not fridge white, more like old English White number one
The Monaro and Camaro were both painted by a family car painters in Morrinsville- water skiing anyone....remember them Ken?
I took this panel to brother Warren and he confirmed it , after all he was there at the time.
If you were here now, after the past 4 days, we would be having some more beers,leaning against this same panel and talking stories..........

It is stretching my memory a bit but the names I remember at that time were; Bob Summerell (Summerell Panel & Paint (2003), 166 Thames St, Morrinsville, 07 889 7227 ) and Greg & Julian Tordoff.
If they did not do it I am sure they could tell you who did.
