Another photo of the ex Arthur Kennard Geoff Mardon Healey at Wigram in 1960 from D A Howell archives.
A note from Allan Dick who wrote the cars history in NZ Classic Driver several years ago,
I am still trying to get a copy
Wigram 1960
" This is the Healey Corvette still in the ownership of Arthur Kennard. Eddie Candy was the next owner, but he came later. This is the victory lap by the "podium" of the 1960 Lady Wigram Trophy Race won by Jack Brabham (centre) from David Piper (right) and Ian Burgess (left). Bruce McLaren was fourth, rather famously driving the Lycoming. No idea who the chap with the pipe and two sprogs is though. "
and from Russ Cunningham " The guy with the pipe & two sprog's is Bruce Bayliss from down our way. "
and the entry list from Graham Woods - Wigram 1960 ..
No mention of the Healey but the main race is the Lady Wigram Trophy
Saw this beauty today at the Classic Car Show at The Elms, Tauranga

Terrible photo but you might be able to identify some of the cars in this line-up at Pukekohe on 24 April 2001.

Milan, must pass that photo on, as the Beige coloured 3000 looks like the one Nigel saw at the Elms Tauranga last weekend, and I am sure some of the people will be recognised too !! being April, I would assume the National Rally, which I think they now hold every two years at Easter or could just be a group of them went to a Classic Car meeting.
BMC BOY may know more than I do.

Great Ray, am stealing that one also .. PS love the Magnette, I nearly / almost bought a Wolseley 4/44 back in the early 1970's, not quite a Magnette but had a lovely wooden dash, went on to a Sprite instead.
Just noticed you and BMC BOY are twins, same wheels on the cars !!

Not quite Roger - mine are splined "knock-ons".
I have taken the luggage rack off for the first time since the car was restored in 1978. Just for a change - looks a bit less cluttered and i've never really used it much as a BN7 has a reasonable boot.

AH 100 BN3 - Yes BN3 known as BN3/1

This car was a protoype for a six cylinder Austin Powered Healey and is currently being restored by Patrick and Caroline Quinn in Sydney Australia.
It is a 100 chassis which at this stage I don 't think had been lengthened - will clarify that and edit later. checked it had not BN3/4 was however a longer chassis -see comments below.
The photos were posted by TRS on the Website today but I thought they belong here - I had already asked permission from Patrick Quinn to use them.
There is also an article on the car which Patrick sent to me some time ago.I will try to attach the link.
" For the first time in almost seven years the BN3 has moved under its own power. Not far mind you. Just enough to move it out of the garage so the radiator and engine could be flushed through. Then I drove it back in again. "
quote - Patrick Quinn
http://www.acmefluid.com.au/larry/PQBN3.htmland a comment from the link ;
" Avid readers of the Austin-Healey publications that abound these days would have realised that there were also a BN3 and BN5. "
further comment by Patrick
" There were also at least two BN3s built by the DHMC as experimental prototype vehicles to test the new six cylinder in the Austin-Healey chassis. One of these, BN3/4 which still exists in terrible condition was a very different car being nine inches longer then standard, special chassis that sweeps up into the engine bay and quarter elliptics at the rear. The other vehicle is the BN3/1 and is the car I bought over a quarter of a century ago. "
They were however not production cars, unlike BN1 BN2, 100's BN4 and BN6 100/6 and BN7 3000
a couple of photos from the article ;

Err, doesn't sound right to me, Rover Healy, also not part of BL when produced.

Big Healey BJ8 3000 production stopped in 1968, and they looked at a Rolls Royce powered A-H, a widened BJ8 with the Four Litre Roller motor, my thoughts were it would have been a great motor in a Healey.
BMC as such were not very nice to Donald Healey at the end of the relationship - Rover got the 215 ci V8 from General Motors, an unwanted motor from a small Buick that was no longer used ..went on the be a great motor in BL. Rover/ LandRover, Morgan, as a 3.5 litre, and with BMC Australia in the P76 as a 4.4 litre.

Remember in the day those R.R. motor's where a bit of a disaster in the B.L. Van den plas, people used to run & hide when they saw one coming.
