Jen Mossman got some track time in her Chev powered Mazda RX 7. This car was built for Jen a few years back and started with a 327 small block. Now owned by John Telford who kindly offered Jen the drive.
Jen is the only female, or one of the very few to break 60 seconds in a saloon car at Bay Park.
The car was built it maybe 1991 Its a tube chassis built by her ex husband Greg. They brought the Grant Brennans RX7 and dumped most of it but kept the IMSA body kit. Jennifer had the ex Brett Willis commodore for a few season prior, so they stripped it out and used the mechanicals in the Mazda.
The best bits the engine. ( the bones of it now in the Graeme Park Marina). its a Fisher 310 cube, and powered the 1982 US Transam championship winning DeAtley Camaro, ( with drivers Willie T Ribbs, and David Hobbs)
Additional info by Roger Davis.

Thanks Bruce-
http://www.theroaringseason.com/showthread.php?1373-Historic-Sport-Sedans/page48 #941 if you want to see this car when Jen was racing it...Primo colours
Maybe someone can shift it here.
Got this from Grimmie, is this related ?-The car in 1984 won the trans Am series with David Hobbs driving it and later by Billy T Ribbs. It was car 28 of a 2 car team owned by Portland Industrialist De Atley and sponsored by Budweiser.

Yes John, we had some fun with that one as I was talking to Ken about that if he felt as crook as he did at Laguna Seca that I could be his back up at Taupo because they wouldn't have had to adjust the seat or belts much and just blank off the Smith bit ! I would probably have stalled it and the real Kenny would have been blamed !

Hyndman was a bit nervous before taking his very FIRST ride in a competition car. The Cambridge Monaro. (Always watched from the sidelines.)
US Historic Sedan driver, Chad Raynal was there to try and calm me down !
Once I got on board with veteran Australian driver Rowan Harman, I was soon at ease even with a lack places to hang on besides the inside door trim ! We had to have an Aussie drive the Holden Monaro !
Bruce Thompson and Chad lined up in the"Big Blue " Falcon and the racing was on !
But in the end we came through to win this challenge in the Monaro

1-Must tighten hood lining up above drivers head.
2-Must change white string holding ignition key/petrol cap key to a more blending colour.
3-Must view movie -Talladega Nights

One demo lap of Taupo in the "Cambridge" Monaro. The movie is a bit rough as I tried to hang on and hold the camera at the same time.
Thanks to John (The owner ) and Rowan, the driver.

Lame excuse from a Motor Trimmer I know, but currently you can only see this from the passenger seat....a place I dont visit.
And I wont say- Factory finish .
My Boss Andy stickers I thought looked better on Blues rear wing , than on the front wing.
Ken also did some laps in the Little Gray Mouse

Some Historic Sports Sedans and Allcomers.
Where else in the world would one come across a group such as this, wonderful people with exciting cars with all sorts of engines and custom built bodywork and "heaps of grunt". My photos don't do them justice here but I will try.
Note the alterations on this 1981 Morris Marina # 34 driven by Murray Park.
The Hillman "Chavenger" # 77 of the amazing, ageless, Neil Deighton of Mangaweka.
The man who tirelessly keeps this class going, John McKechnie, drives by in his 1969 "Cambridge "Holden Monaro, # 59 (note the clean wheels !)
John's other car is the 1973 Ford Falcon XA Coupe # 83 ably driven by our good friend, Bruce Thompson.

Some people shots.
L to R.
Rowan Harman (Australian Motoring Events Manager and classic car driver etc, )
Dale Mathers (Mr. Boss 302 Mustang )
Jim Barclay (Mr. Whenuapai )
John McKechnie (Mr Historic Sports Sedans and Allcomers )
Steve Holmes (Mr Roaring Season himself) What a pleasure it was for me to meet Steve finally and to listen to him and his wealth of knowledge in discussions with others was a real treat for me.
For instance just listening in on Steve's discussion with Grant Sprague and the Ernie and Gary Sprague stories was so interesting
Also some would bring a packet of old photos to share and it was neat to hear the recollections of this group.
Chad Raynal, John McKechnie, Bruce Thompson, ? and Steve Holmes.
Perhaps my moment came with meeting up with Dennis Marwood on right and Jim Palmer and we discussed old Waikato stories from Kereone to Whitiora.
Jim was going off to see the Lotus 18 that he drove at the 1961 Horohora Hillclimb to set the best time ever and he said that beat Bruce McLaren's record for that hillclimb which I did not realize before.

Jim Palmer 1960 Formula Junior Lotus 18 that he sold to Ross Greenville.

It was a pleasure to finally meet you too Ken! I really enjoyed the weekend, although I was starting to lose my voice by Sunday pm, from talking too much. By the way, great job polishing the wheels on John's Monaro. They were the shiniest in the paddock.

Huge weekend for me and made all the better to give them Webers a blow through!!! Couldn't have made the laps without Kenny's navigation. Huge thanks to John McKechnie for the drive in the Cambridge Monaro. Bruce Thompson and Family are the best hosts at the Howick Hilton. The Inaugural ANZUS IMSA Monza Conference was also held at Taupo with Guest Speaker Chad Raynal, Angus Fogg, Roger Williamson and yours truly forming the core group. More hospitality on the Monday following with visits to Angus Fogg, Wayne Anderson and Tony Antonievich workshops. I will get to posting some images after a hectic week at Bathurst. Thanks again to all, fantastic!!!
