Bob Carlyle put the Alan Edwards Corvette engine in a vanguard based special we Howickites called the 'tin car" Famous for scarey rides and spare gearboxes strapped to it for Friday nite in town (Queen Street)

OK, this guy, riding a V8 powered motorcycle, was mysteriously known as 'Mr X'. Must have been a hell of a ride.
Apparently he called himself Mr X because he didn't want him Mum to find out he was drag racing.

That's correct Steve. He was a Whangarei lad in those days.

You'll all be familiar with Bob Clarkson. Thats him standing on the sideline, as Lou Wymer blasts away. I assume this is the same Lou Wymer who circuit races a 1970 Mustang fastback these days?
