Before I had a licence my mate and I would talk my father or his father into driving us to the tracks so we could watch the racing. Newcastle to Oran Park in those days was a long trip. For Catalina we used the train as you suggest. A big outing for young school boys in those days.

It's a Tasman chassis BT23A (1).

These Bruce Wells photos are very very good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm really enjoying them.
Just wondering what car Graham Hill is driving in the startline photo showing him with Jackie Stewart and Jim Clark on front row of grid.

Yes, it's a Lotus 48 on debut, Hill's only appearance of the series.

This is Kevin Bartlett in the crossed-up Brabham BT11A leading Spencer Martin's similar car. Bartlett finished the race in 6th. Post #52 shows Martin's fate.
