Great to see some club track photos. not many on here.

Re: Minis and Imps
#30 is Russell Findlater from Balclutha. In 65 he built up a 105E Anglia van and raced it. Sutherland was also from Balclutha.

Woody, pretty tough for the Vanguard 2088 cc against the 3.8 Jaguar and even the 3.6 Chev Coupes, presume they were the Stovebolt Six at that size .. although 3528 cc was the size of the Buick / Olds motor that Rover adopted

It was a very quick 1340cc Anglia van that was sold to an Invercargill house painter that used it for years carrying around his paint cans, brushes and ladders!

Mini's at Paritutu 1965
Alan Boyle and Ron Brown, great Mates and Team Mates both ran Mini's in the 1960's
Alan recently posted this on his facebook page. In the scrutineering queue behind the Lycoming, the cars all drove down from Auckland then raced- the way NZ motor racing was ..
Time this thread " CAME TO THE FRONT PAGE AGAIN "

Alan Boyle and his Mini's #46
Alan Boyle posted this photo on BLENZ Facebook page - a page dedicated to BMC / BL vehicles,it is worth a look.
Alan wrote " 1967-68 NZ Motor racing season..

the whole exercise was 'low budget'..
5 weeks touring the South Island.. 4 race weekends part of
the Tasman International Grand Prix series ..
and return to Auckland..
the ute owned by Lynton Ryan my crewman and good friend. "
Alan's first Mini an " 850 " suitably modified became "Tomato " which he raced 1965 - 67,he later had one that was purple at some stage, could be this car.
Alan's Car at the NZIGP 1968 - probably when " purple " - or it could be " Tomato " with the Chromed wide wheels -you can tell of course from the photo - mine.
Crate of Coca Cola products beside the car, Alan was signwriter by trade, and had great paintwork and signage on his cars,he worked for Coca Cola around this time in this trade.
Have a few more Mini pics - must make sure I haven't posted them already on this thread - apologies if I do.
Many have been seen on other threads " Motor racing my early years Pukekohe " Dunedin Festival " and others.

Re: Minis and Imps
Having had at least one Mini in the household, every single day since February 1967, thought I'd post a picture of my very first. My very first car too, at the age of 21 (couldn't afford a car before then!).
Note the contrast roof colour. I think I paid fifteen quid for a 'Stirling Moss approved' contrast roof paint. If it was fifteen quid, it was just over a week's wages, so maybe it was a fiver!
This 850cc sported twin carbs and probably a nicely built engine, as it certainly went well. Pic taken probably the day I bought it - so it might have been late 1967. Must check my diary...

Sadly, the Stirling Moss.com website has been shut down due to his poor health (he is 88) so no details on Google.
I did a lot of miles in that van and when I graduated to a hot 850cc saloon, Dad bought the van from me and had it for some years.

Re: Minis and Imps
Thanks Nigel. I remember racing in 91-94 and Dons Mini was always there. Man this car is a time warp, it hasnt changed at all. And I had an orange DeJoux back in 1975...no wing Reg FG 8393, indicators front of front guards, 1100 motor, twin fillers at the back- could this be the same car?
