Agree Ray,
When I said on here, I actually meant one of my threads - maybe on the Pukekohe one as photo relates to the GP meeting or the NSCC one - if john Histed was a member - in the 1950's 1960's into the 1970's most guys belonged to both the Auckland based clubs ACC and NSCC .
Cheers
Roger ..

Even though I had my leg somewhat mangled 5 weeks ago when an MGB reversed into me and crushed the leg up against another MGB, I still have a soft spot for them. It's called a calf muscle...
Although I have sold my much loved Cooper S and the Marcos may be the next to go, I still have the ex-Geoff Bonham MGB GT to sort out.

A couple from Caffeine and Classics (on this Sunday?)
Peter's BMW
The P76 looks quite ungainly in comparison. Just before I left the UK, there was a P76 often parked across the road from the factory where I worked. I never took a camera to work, so never grabbed a pic. Pity.
Back to Hampton Downs

Having just read, once again, Evan Green's book A Boot Full of Right Arms I'm somewhat tempted to think the P76 could have been a pretty good car...
They did share gearbox, rear axle and wheels with Valiants, after all.

Agreed; socialism killed it, along with the development a lot of other good things within British industry.
Very seriously LOL.

Notice that the one pictured has the unique Targa Florio wheels?
Somewhere I have photos of a beautifully kept (or restored?) green Targa Florio which lived in Cootamundra. The owner also had a station wagon version, I can't remember now whether that was a factory dalliance/prototype or just something someone cobbled together. I think I have photos of it too.

I'm a year behind my magazine reading (cruising habit means time away, but the magazines keep coming), and in a note I read yesterday, on the passing of Sir Michael Edwardes last year, Red Robbo, the communist union leader at BL, called no less than 523 strikes before Edwardes got rid of him.
IMHO, BL failed mainly due to three factors. Weak management (prior to Edwardes); Red Robbo and the unions; accountants carrying more weight than engineers. Shame as I have always been a BMC/BL/Rover/MG/Jaguar/Land Rover fan and the only car I have ever owned that didn't come from that large stable, is the Marcos - and even that has a a few BL parts in it.

Caffeine & Classics today - without the caffeine, and a fraction of the usual numbers, but always something of interest.
This caught my eye. Body shape is based on the Volpini, but a Kiwi built special - 'Russolini' with 4 cylinder Toyota power. The builder has previously built 3 McLaren copies.

1951's sports car - front engine
2000 sports car - rear engine
1950's single seater - front engine
1960's single seater - rear engine
Times change, yet even pre-war, we had the Auto Unions.

That Jupiter's in way better shape than the last one I looked at...
Better days are coming, but they might take a while.

Headlamp rims look to be in good nick! Better quality chrome than on the 1989 Honda 250 that I had.

If I was donated 50 cents for every competition mile that Jupiter has done it would fund a LOT of racing!
