It has had a long history since 1947 when it was built by Des Herrick as a speedway midget with a B4 engine. Got a Hudson Terraplane engine in 1948 then converted to a circuit car in 1950 with a Model T rear end and a Bugatti box. Then got an A40 engine when the Hudson expired, then a Singer gearbox (when Chris Amon had it) ....... and on it went with each subsequent owner "improving" it. It still has bits of the 1947 midget but not much .... a bit like grandad's axe ....

That second-last pic, the sporty car, seems to have '36 to '39 Ford V8 underpinnings...

Ray Looks similar to the " Hawaiian ' Corvette ' Special " that Mike Ryan - ex-pat Kiwi recently recovered from a shed and is now restoring.. very similar body but has a tilt front. that seems to have a bonnet [ hood for the Americans ]

Think so Bry3500 - Hope it gets restored too !!
Re: Abandoned, Forgotten, Neglected, Race And Road Cars Thread
As I recall, the Hawaiian Special has independent suspension all round, whereas it looks to me that the other car has live axles straight from the late 30s Ford.
