Jim Richards in the Williment Escort tC was one of the best tin-top conductors.

Alec Dickies Anglia Corvette got all steamed up in this argument.

Escort TC men Gary Sprague and brian Crosbie demonstrated different lines of approach at Teretonga.

Bay park

Two heads are better than one, but tacky tread picked up grit in Bay Park paddock.
New York Times motorsport editor John Radosta came out to get the picture.

Norinder performed a Swedish pirouette.

"I reckon if that don't fix it nuttin will"

Ron Gable, most professional of the American visitors, began paying his way at Bay park but could not break the Tasman monopoly of the resident drivers.

Lotus man Ken Smith, 3rd on the National formula ladder last time, was a convincing champion this time.

Gold Star winner Graham McRae got the best out of the Begg FM2, on this occassion runner-up Graeme Lawrence asked American Begg pilot Pierre Phillips to move over.

Frank Radisich in ex-Lawrence mcLaren M4A FVA did not reach expectations.

Factory entered Valiants, biggest cars in the race, shared front rows on grid.

Early on this was the most common Valiant view for other contestants.

Falcons fared better than the Zephyrs, rthe Richards/Maloney car the first Ford home.

The winning Victor usually had a Valiant uncomfortably close in the opening stages.

Co-Winner Spragua looked quietly confident.

The silver was shared by winners Leo Leonard and Ernie Sprague.

And you would not believe it? right in the middle of the rac traffic, a crazy chicken crossed the track on crutches.

McLaren M10 mounted Matich showed them all a clean pair of heels, sometimes elevated, at Pukekohe and Wigram.
