Another mix...
1970 Mallory Park
1973 Mallory Park - McLaren
1980 Donington
Help required here for dating these two (there are several others but the quality isn't too good). The Lotus 23 and Tony's Ginetta carried their usual numbers, so that is no help whatever! Maybe Rex's TR7 V8 is easier to ID? Pukekohe of course.
1989 December 10th - I think...

I would say it's from 1987, and before 2000. With a larger photo of the G4 I could check details
I would bet 1990

Thanks Remi. I need the actual date though, not just the year. Both the Triumph and the Lotus are carrying the yellow 'Pinepac' stickers, suggesting it wasn't long after Whenuapai, which was usually February or March, so my guess would be April/May.
Neither 1987, 1989 nor 1990 had Pinepac stickers, so maybe 1985, 1986 or 1988?

My bad, it was 1991
It explains the Pinepac sticker

Thanks so much Remi as it accurately dates quite a small pile of slides. As I acquired my Marcos April 1991, I assumed that as I was spectating, that it was before 1991! I do have a copy of the programme too.
1990
1990

Otaua 2019. Too tied up at the moment with hospital visiting (I'm the one who is OK) to post much.
A fine example of John McKechnie's trimming work.
More of this anon.
The Speedex has had the font end beefed up a bit and it now handles much better.
Patiently waiting for something to happen from my vantage point, half way up the hill...
After taking a few pics, back to my favourite daily coffee stop at 2pm for the first food of the day (and 500ml coffee) and another of Lauren's much appreciated witticisms.

The MG 6 cylinder is a special built by Laurie Poolman, longtime MG enthusiast, all done at home in Waipu.

Thanks Rhys. So many MG models of that era that you do need specialist knowledge. I had a short drive in an L1 Magna at Curborough many years ago and the reverse gearbox layout was the same as this one. I met Laurie at Leadfoot. Clever man.
The number plate is obviously off his other car.
Walbran Senior opened the runs as he was sharing the car with a Walbran Junior (Cam?)

Not in the hillclimb, but on the hill.
Despite having bought one of my MGFs last year, Barry opted to run the Rover...

ERC, Ray what is the #14, Blue stripe over White sports car - can't quite get the badge - looks very nice too !!
P. S. have been looking at the background - all seems familiar, but with some access improvements - new driveways, still the flax bushes up through the wiggle part of the track [ Road ].
Appreciate the photos a lot because of my strong connection with the event in the 1980's -
Competitor in 1983,
Marshall 1985 - 87 ?
then
" Secretary / Organiser " 1988 [ '87? ]-90..
I did the MANZ permit and Franklin County Council part and dealt with early entries - with Reg Whittaker as the man on the ground talking to the residents, liaising with the Tavern Owner [ Tavern now gone, sadly ] and Frank Karl and others as Scrutineers.

Roger, #14 is a Speedex, originally Austin 7 based.

The Speedex was a Jem Marsh creation -Jem of Marcos fame. This one has a supercharged Austin engine. Run by Hamish Andrew. Hamish's parents both used to marshal, race and rally, for NSCC and I know them both well, as Liz was a tutor on knitwear when I was also tutoring at ATI/AIT/AUT (and I think, was at Glengyle Knitwear, part of the Bendon Group - unless my memory is playing tricks again.)
Kevin runs either a J2 MG or the Wolseley Hornet Special and was scrutineering. As mentioned on Nigel's thread, I bought a basket case Singer Bantam (off Kevin), but it was beyond my somewhat limited skill set, so I sold it on - as a basket case.
As regards Otaua, when the MGCC took over from Austin Healey, Derek Prior and his helpers did the permit side of things and I did the timing (radios and three or four watches, no telephone wire) and results - in the early days of a laptop and Star NX10 printer, so results all done by 3pm!
The Otaua Tavern which we used as our base is closed and somewhat run down.
