Who What and Where?
Re: Who What and Where?
A couple with Paul Fahey and the Heron?
Re: Who What and Where?
Johny Riley and Rod Coppins with Paul Fahey. Iwould say it could also be Fahey on the bike.
Re: Who What and Where?
You guys are too sharp, pretending to be of fading memory, the accompaniment of advancing years, you've been conning us.Riley,Coppins Fahey at the launch of Ray Stones new tuning center in Manurewa.1964.

Sorry for being a couple of days behind the game, but is this the same car? A well-known journalist had doubts a year or two ago.

I withdraw any reservations I might have had

Re: Who What and Where?
Jim Boyd, Buckler Mk5 or is it 6 (wheelbase being the difference) at Dunedin 1955
The original ownership papers for this car show the model as MkV/1, just looked!
As a slight aside, Jim drove this car with wife and son aboard on the "circuit" of events from Auckland and back. In front of the screen is a hatch and luggage storage which is where the tent, clothes etc went. Only maintenance is said to be valve adjustment, although other sources say the jets were changed for the race meetings.

Re: Who What and Where?
Its in the article as a Buckler Mk 1, in 1956 he was 3rd overall in the Dunedin street race, the photo was taken at the McGregor foundry corner.
Re: Who What and Where?
Markec I love that photo of Jim in the two wheel Buckler. I also have a line drawing of it on a tea shirt. Jim was in the first NZ Buckler in 1955, the white one in the photo and the following year took the supercharged one. The two cars were at Hampton Downs last year carrying their numbers from that famous Ohakea photo of the 1956 grid. They look similar from the front but the tails are quite different. Graeme
Re: Who What and Where?
Thanks for that Graeme, I was an 8 year old living in Alexandra back then, speed boats was the only form of motorized competition in that area back then.Much of the postings I do are from early magazines, so the history surrounding those images are outside my knowledge area.

No Mark the one I had was an Errol Norris chassis with Hillman Avenger motor. I see its for sale on the HRSCC website http://www.hrscc.co.nz/classifieds.html The current owner has done wonders with it compared to how it was when dragged out of Ron Roycrofts shed.
Re: Who What and Where?
I have been looking for period images of the McRae S! with no luck.
Re: Who What and Where?
Geebee has picked up on the McRae U2 whereas you asked about the single seater.
I have a photo yet to be scanned of the U2 type car in Matamata about 65/66, but bad ones of the singleseater which show nothing, and then from far away.
