The Alfa Romeo and Talbot Lago have been re-released by SMER and are readily available at around $20 AUD. The original Merit kits built up are not difficult to get off eBay and usually go for between $50 to $100. For new Japanese kits it is cheaper to get them direct from Japan. https://hlj.com/

Thanks Bill. I wasn't aware of that. Just started bidding for a Talbot on Ebay and luckily, I have a UK address. Will have a go at an Alfa too.

The Merit moulds for the Syracuse Connaught and Aston DB3S went to Premier and re-released. Still hard to find !

I have a couple of Hong Kong knockoffs of the Syracuse Connaught, same scale and all. The Merit kits were available for a long time, well into the sixties having first been released in 1956. https://primotipo.com/tag/merit-models/

Click on this https://photos.app.g...F1aFWZ8odSXkmj1 for pictures of our 2017 1/24th scale Vintage Slot Car Grand Prix. Our feature race the Adelaide Grand Prix is for 50's open wheelers, amongst which there are several SMER Alfa Romeos and Talbot Lagos and the odd Merit.

Brilliant! Looks as though the 'drivers' are either beardies or baldies!

Amazing how important it is to get the wheels right! I have an old modelling book by master modeller, Rex Hays. His method of creating his own wire wheels was interesting - and time consuming of course!

Thanks to Bill, I managed to win an unbuilt Talbot kit on Ebay - including postage to my son's UK address - $15! Bargain.

Ray, Suggest you keep an eye on Ebay for a set of Herb Deeks PE Wire Wheel inserts. They fit nicely into the original Merit / Smer wheels

Well here a three models of original Race Cars in my collection.
