The Renault pictured is known by a few names! yes 4cv (4 fiscal horsepower just as a Citroen 2cv is 2), also known as a 750, and for some odd reason in Australia there was a 760. Hino made them too! 1947 to 1961.

Ferrari 250 GTs from the early 1960s that are now valued in the millions of dollars !
e.g. The # 20 1963 GTO is up for sale at US $ 70 Million !
(Wow , I wonder what the insurance bill was to go racing a Laguna ?)

Although left out in the open without shelter like some of the other groups, the Historic Trans Am 1966 - 1972 and later Trans Am cars, these original vehicles are always a welcome sight.

Jim Farley is the current CEO of the Ford Motor Company. He enjoys participating in historic racing events.
Here he is waiting to enter the track in the 1969 Boss Mustang # 1 originally driven by Peter Revson.

A 2016 article about the Revson and Peter Gregg Mustangs.

He won the race by just over 1/2 a second in his 1964 Shelby Cobra Coupe # 96. from another 1964 Cobra # 89

"This Falcon, and one other, were used as chassis development mules by Shelby for the GT350, in trade for parts. This car raced from 1963 through 1973 in A Sedan and Trans-Am, then went to Europe where it raced for many years. It is one of the oldest surviving Trans-Am cars."

I am back in town after being away on a trip that included my son's wedding. So excuse the delay in that it is over a month since I attended the Velocity event.
One car there that is so original it even has it's original paint that is now beginning to wear away after years of racing
It is the 1991 SCCA Trans Am Championship winning Camaro # 33, originally driven by Scott Sharp.
Now owned and driven by Bill Ockerlund;

More of the Scott Sharp Camaro # 33.
As I noted before, the Trans Am group had to prepare out in the open away from the shade and other amenities.
(Not a problem with battery power and a floor jack !)
1112211342 - Copy.jpg
Scott was very good friends with Tommy Kendall, another young talented US driver, who had an awful crash at Watkins Glen in June 1991 while driving a IMSA GTP Intrepid. Tom's legs and feet were badly broken and even now 30 years later he still walks with a noticeable limp. But he did bravely return to racing including the 1996 Bathurst 1000 driving for Dick Johnson. Kendall holds the distinction of being the first US driver to have ever finished that race.
While he was recovering Scott Sharp had this message written on the rear of his Camaro.
1112211501a - Copy.jpg

"On June 30, 1991, Kendall suffered serious leg injuries at Watkins Glen when a mechanical failure caused his Intrepid RM-1 IMSA GTP car to leave the track and crash head-on into a tire wall. This occurred along the same area of track where J. D. McDuffie of NASCAR Winston Cup fame was killed only a month later, and both crashes led to the addition of a bus stop chicane on the backstretch. (Wikipedia)
