Does anyone recognize who this Aussie visitor was during the '60s? The photo was sent to me for my Holden book. The racer towed a caravan while he was in NZ with this Holden.

Lou Kingsley. I've got an article about him somewhere. I'll see if I can find it. He was billed as the oldest racing driver IIRC.

Here's a photo from the National Library of him racing at Ardmore in 1960.

There was a piece in the Sydney Morning Herald dated 20 October 1968 about Lou Kingsley retiring from racing at the age of 80.

NZGP day January 9 1960 didn't start out very well for Kingsley.

There's also this article about Kingsley's Repco-headed Holden FC Station Sedan.

Yes and John Bryson the co-driver. 1973 was the year.

When Lou Kingsley raced at Teretonga that summer he was put up against a young man called Barry Keen who drove a Triumph Herald coupe. The local newspaper gave great credence to the oldest versus youngest competitor. Barry of course went on the be the Begg "works" driver starting with the original 650 Special which is now in his safekeeping.

An interesting point about the Evan Green/John Bryson Holden...

They used some of their surplus power to run air conditioning. It kept the dust out, and proved to them that they should have the same feature in their entry in the London-Munich World Cup Rally the following year.
