Ladas were built in a special city in the Soviet Union-Togliatti- after an Italian communist.
One grade of steel over there, same steel went into Mir as into tanks, Ladas and Fiats.
Only problem they didnt undercoat or prime them.
For painting , gave car an electric current when painting.
Italy and Russia had a special deal on steel as Italy didnt produce their own.

*Oh Romeo where art thou Romeo......*

Is that you Giulietta?

This was taken at Ruapuna not long after Steve & Neville had built the car , if memory serves me it was at a drag meeting, I think Rod McElrea was there too. Might have some more pictures somewhere.

and yes it was Jude's shopping trolley Mitsubishi Celeste.

Car is still with current custodian in canterbury., its going to have issues with front flares/tire contact unless they leave it at that height. Original had them mounted about 2" higher, was designed to use flare from RR on LF & LR on RF with front portion fabricated from steel on each side.

Going to have to re-do the front flares by that pic, they are mounted about 2'' too low on front guards- When molds/patterns were built RR was made to do LF and LR for RF with front portion fabricateded out of steel to match. Tire will likely contact flare at correct ride height if raced as is in pics.. Sorry Steve, had to answer on your post, something crazy going on when I tried to reply on other pics/posts etc, page wont stay stable.
