Dave Smythe, quick Escort and well driven. He still has this as well.

Thanks Rod. Just shows that in the case of Possum for example, you never really know when you take a photograph, that the subject may go on to greater things.
Currently reading 'Shunt', the story of James Hunt, written by Tom Rubython, (800 pages!) and there is only one photograph they found of James Hunt racing his Mini.

Paula's 19 year old son acquired this Armstrong Siddely from a Hauraki Plains farmer for $300. it was languishing in a shed, unused for ages. Squirt of new fuel and a battery and it fired up. He thought it would be worth a fortune and it hung around out in the street for a long time before he realised it was never going to sell without a decent restoration.
The only car I have driven with a pre-selector gearbox.
The Capri was given a quick respray without any real effort to replace the dodgy bits, but at least he raised some of the money for a deposit on his first house - and was mortgage free by the time he was 23.
I have no idea exactly when or where this was taken as it is just the one frame in the middle of a roll of film. September 1986 is my best guess.

The Escort is the Bruce Manon one, there have been a few photos of it on Facebook recently, in this logo and another. Jim Short has a photo of Bruce Spinning at Rothmans curve Pukekohe right in front of Jim's Porsche.. now must try to find it !!

Bruces car on display down at Auckland waterfront motorshow way back in mid 80s, we took Sports Sedans for show. stripped Commodore was Brett Willis, see front and door stored behind Bruces Escort, blue white Escort me and George with the good ole Mustang. Our stand actually generated a pretty good interest. Other cars there as well.

I do keep saying it is a Mix of Pics...
A temporary switch to Agfa film, but I really don't care for the colours.

Never have I felt more inadequately prepared to deal with a track disaster, than when marshalling at the first truck races, April 22/23 1990. Frightening... Later events proved that to be a justified worry, but thankfully, I wasn't at that meeting.
January 1st 1990, I restarted keeping a daily diary, something I have managed to maintain to this day. I haven't checked the diary for location, but at least the date is correct.
Woodhill (or is it Riverhead?) October 28th 1990.

This was the first public showing of Derek Prior's MGB, which went on to have a very illustrious race career, first with Derek, then Greg Bellingham and finally, the late Tony Sturm. Tony had that horrific crash at Taupo which put him in hospital for about three months and was one of the reasons that led to my decision to retire.
The remains were acquired by Andy Culpin and the engine will find itself in another car - eventually.

Yet another rally - without consulting the diary, date unknown but guessing about May 1991.

You hardly ever see people playing golf on the side of the race track nowadays.

These are fearless military people of the RNZAF Golf Club, Whenuapai. They probably have right of way over military planes as well.

Last of the rally pics from this event.

I haven't dated this accurately. I can't pinpoint the event, but I do know it is at Chelsea Sugar Works, some time before November 1992.
Maybe Lance Roskilly?

These were taken at what appeared to be a fairly informal Classic meet at Ellerslie 22nd November 1992 - not the concours. At this stage, I knew the Marcos needed a full body off restoration so I was experimenting with paints as I patched up scuffed and stone chipped bodywork.
One of the few Dinky Toys I have not yet sold to fund my 'habit', is the Aceca.
Not much for Spgeti recently... I haven't seen this ISO since.
NZ made 'Tron'. Looked smart but was apparently a little expensive.
