Goggomobile Twin Mini

Post by bry3500 »

A 1960 Goggomobil Coupe that had been modified by Warren Creagh to take two mini front subframes, and competed with two Cooper S spec 1408cc race prepped engines pushing out a combined 240hp!

Creagh first fitted two mini 850 motors complete with "magic wand" style gearchanges (with the rear one operated by sticking your hand out the back window) just to see if it would work, way back in 1962.
It did work, but due to a lack of time & money, he stuck a single Cooper S engine in the front and drove it around for a while (it was still road registered at this stage) before putting it onto the backburner until the 80s.
He then fitted two race engines and competed at various events at Amaroo, Bathurst, Oran Park & many others during the 80s and 90s before building a lighter, more competitive spaceframe car
The body is all fibreglas, with a steel floorpan as originally produced by Bill Buckle. It weighed in at 700kg with the two BMC A series motors.
.
The car was then sold on to a mate of his, who competed with a single engine in the front. Eventually it was stripped of its motor and ended out at a wreckers, who put it up on eBay.
Mike Clarke from W.A. purchased the car from the wrecker and is undertaking a restoration back to the original twin engine configuration. He has the original Cams log books and most of the parts.
