Not a breadvan but this was something we tried in 1965 in the search for more speed down the Pukekohe back straight ,if you look closely you will see we faired the rear wheels in and ran a undertray under the front and at the rear ,this photo would have been at the 65 back to front meeting as we had to uncover the side light covers to get some more brake cooling ,now before you rubbish it yes it did help the top speed a bit but we found it also sucked the back of the car down around the fast corners ,it was probably a bit short sighted that we did not experiment with it more the next season

That is quite ingenious Bob! I guess in a way it was a sort primitive version of ground effects. Kinda looks like you went out and bought an Anglia Continental Kit!

So heres a question, both the Simpson and Fahey Anglia's debuted their new fastback rooflines at the NZIGP meeting at Pukekohe. Was it purely coincidence, or was there some spying going on?

Steve ,I am just going to sit here and wait for the answers on this one ,maybe the question should be where did the idea come from in the begining ,who had sketched the concept out imposed on a photo and had a connection to both parties who were shown that sketch, and they in turn copied it ,neither party knew the other was doing it but they had both seen that sketch

Very unusual for anyone other than Graeme Lawrence to be #14 - at Levin or anywhere else!
The only Anglias I can find thus numbered were Ray Walsh from Wanganui with a 1200 at the March 1972 meeting, and Martin Olsen in a 2-litre car in December 1975 (the last-ever Levin). Have to admit neither driver nor car rings any bells with me

I don't know David, will check with Dad, however it would have been 67 or 68 more likely 68 these additional pics may help as they are in the same group of pics.

Might have been November 1968
42 was P W Ackroyd's 997 Anglia and 75 Ron Condon's
No.14 at that meeting was Trevor Eve in a JRM sportscar, but he might have raced his Anglia instead - no, scrub that, I've got a 14 on my sportscar-race lap-chart

Thats a neat looking car. I did see the guy sitting in the left side but assumed he was in the passenger seat.
