Post by hollylodge »

hello, a friend sent the link for this web site/forum, wow arn't the photos fantastic, although I was not a spectator in those days (despite being old enough), I have a passion for car racing of that period, in particular Mini cooper S' , but all of the machinery from that time..great stuff, I have Brian/Bryan Innes first cooper S, which I have raced for 20 years ... there is a photo of it in amongst the steve twist photos....hope I can add something to the forum...quentin

Quentin, welcome to The Roaring Season! Great to have you here. I reckon you'll find there are lots of Mini enthusiasts on here. Great to hear you have the Innes car. Can you post any photos of it? Please feel free to start a dedicated thread on the car in the General Discussion section. Its important to document these historic cars so everyone can gain more insight into their significance.

Hi, I was told that I was born 20 years too late but I don't care, I love the passion with which the contributors talk and remeber the gold old days of racing in NZ. I love the way that when there was NO internet and very little forms of contact with the rest of the world that Innovative Kiwi's were building world class racecars in their back sheds.

I started competing in events when I as 18 (on my learners!) and would always take lots of photos. I grew out of this habit as I never looked at them much afterwards and processing film was expensive ( even though i worked in a photo store ).
But after looking at all the shots on here I have realised how very important it is that there are those shots out there hidden away for decades. So I'm going to pick up the camera again and make sure that I at least have a record of the types of motoracing and cars and drivers that I got to see and that inspire me. Even if it's just the local hill climbs etc.
This is me most people call me Mikey

Hey Quentin, good to see you catching up on the important stuff. Will we meet at the Festival in a couple of weeks? We have repowered the Mini....Arden etc....so you need to see it. Anyway, happy hunting on this forum.
