Prior to 1925 each region had their own number plate prefix before the whole country ran one set up. Does anyone know where there maybe a list of the codes please?

Re: Pre 1925 NZ number plate prefixes.
According to the reference I have it wasn't regions, but "registering Authorities" and shows 155 different codes! Wellington used W.N with numbers 1 upwards and W for 1001 to 2000. Source, "The NZ Motorists Guide".
Just taking letter K because it's a small list
Kaikoura County Council K.C
Kaitangata County Council K
Kaitieke County Council K.I.E
Kawhia County Council K.W.A
Kiwitea County Council K.W

New Zealand Number Plates.- part of the story
New Zealand Number Plates.
A lot is known but much information is also lost or incorrect on the History of New Zealand Number Plates, from the early ones in this thread to the latest 3 letter 3 number issues.
Plates are useful in identifying when a photo was taken as from 1925 to 1941 Plates were issued annually and valid July oonwards in the year of issue until June the following year.
When in 1941, because of material [ metal ] shortages, plates were changed to a 5 yearly cycle [ 1941 -1946 ] a Registration Sticker was issued for the second and subsequent years until the next plate issue took place.
Here are the plates issued from early 1900's until the current issue - well late 2010's. - 2017 to be precise. Thanks to Graham Freeman who wrote a 3 page article in an issue of NZ Memories in 2020. Graham has a huge collection of number plates, which he displays.
More information on Plates issue, and Registration Stickers I will put on my Motoring pics Vintage Cars thread #1932 as even the Alloy Silver and Black Plates are well into the 30 year old category, so any cars with them qualify for VCC status.
