A bit of France at Laguna Seca.
(Ken H photos.)
I may need help with this one.. Is it a Renault 4 CV about 1952 ?(Ken H photos.)
Re: Velocity Invitational. Laguna Seca. November 2021
The Renault pictured is known by a few names! yes 4cv (4 fiscal horsepower just as a Citroen 2cv is 2), also known as a 750, and for some odd reason in Australia there was a 760. Hino made them too! 1947 to 1961.

Re: Velocity Invitational. Laguna Seca. November 2021
Ferrari 250 GTs from the early 1960s that are now valued in the millions of dollars !
e.g. The # 20 1963 GTO is up for sale at US $ 70 Million !
(Wow , I wonder what the insurance bill was to go racing a Laguna ?)

Even on my 62 Mini Cooper with the original Lucas wiring harness I can get the wipers to park in the correct position ! By the look of the road it hadn't even been raining. !

Although left out in the open without shelter like some of the other groups, the Historic Trans Am 1966 - 1972 and later Trans Am cars, these original vehicles are always a welcome sight.
1970 Bud Moore Boss 302 Mustang #16
Originally driven by George Follmer. 1972 Trans Am AMC Javelin #2
Originally driven by Mark Donohue. 1970 Pontiac Trans Am Firebird #8

( Ken H photos..note that I try not to get many people in my photos and that can be difficult sometimes.))

Jim Farley is the current CEO of the Ford Motor Company. He enjoys participating in historic racing events.
Here he is waiting to enter the track in the 1969 Boss Mustang # 1 originally driven by Peter Revson.
A 2016 article about the Revson and Peter Gregg Mustangs.

(Ken H photos..)
Farley also competed in the pre 1966 over 2.5 L GT Class race.
He won the race by just over 1/2 a second in his 1964 Shelby Cobra Coupe # 96. from another 1964 Cobra # 89
(Captured at the Corkscrew in this John Adams photo. )

A recent addition to the Historic Trans-Am field was this 1969 University of Pittsburgh Camaro # 19
It raced originally in the 1970 24 Hour Daytona and later in 1971Trans-Am events.

Re: Velocity Invitational. Laguna Seca. November 2021
Mike Eddy, the driver of this 1963 / 64 Ford Falcon # 17, asked me how the Paul B Falcon was doing in NZ. (Mike is always ready to help others.)
https://www.streetmusclemag.com/feature ... race-cars/
"This Falcon, and one other, were used as chassis development mules by Shelby for the GT350, in trade for parts. This car raced from 1963 through 1973 in A Sedan and Trans-Am, then went to Europe where it raced for many years. It is one of the oldest surviving Trans-Am cars."

Re: Velocity Invitational. Laguna Seca. November 2021
I am back in town after being away on a trip that included my son's wedding. So excuse the delay in that it is over a month since I attended the Velocity event.
One car there that is so original it even has it's original paint that is now beginning to wear away after years of racing
It is the 1991 SCCA Trans Am Championship winning Camaro # 33, originally driven by Scott Sharp.
Now owned and driven by Bill Ockerlund; (Note the paint. )

Re: Velocity Invitational. Laguna Seca. November 2021
More of the Scott Sharp Camaro # 33.
As I noted before, the Trans Am group had to prepare out in the open away from the shade and other amenities.
(Not a problem with battery power and a floor jack !) Scott was very good friends with Tommy Kendall, another young talented US driver, who had an awful crash at Watkins Glen in June 1991 while driving a IMSA GTP Intrepid. Tom's legs and feet were badly broken and even now 30 years later he still walks with a noticeable limp. But he did bravely return to racing including the 1996 Bathurst 1000 driving for Dick Johnson. Kendall holds the distinction of being the first US driver to have ever finished that race.
While he was recovering Scott Sharp had this message written on the rear of his Camaro.
"On June 30, 1991, Kendall suffered serious leg injuries at Watkins Glen when a mechanical failure caused his Intrepid RM-1 IMSA GTP car to leave the track and crash head-on into a tire wall. This occurred along the same area of track where J. D. McDuffie of NASCAR Winston Cup fame was killed only a month later, and both crashes led to the addition of a bus stop chicane on the backstretch. (Wikipedia)
