Thanks Ray, for providing this.
I could not go this year in person so this is the next best thing.
A pity the commentaries are not up to the standard of the Goodwwood presentations.

True enough Ken, but the filming seemed to cover the field better. My criticism of the Goodwood coverage is that they often concentrate far too much on the leader(s) and rarely cover the interesting cars further back in the field.

I only managed to watch for a few minutes and it confirmed my suspicions that Goodwood is so much better for paying spectators, with uninterrupted viewing around the whole track. By that I mean you can walk all the way round and there are no wire fences spoiling the view through a lens.

You are also close enough at Goodwood to not need a bazooka lens to get decent photographs. A 300mm lens is more than adequate. In fact, for my brief Saturday 2009 visit, all my pics were on a pocket Canon compact.

An added bonus for some of us was to see Chad Raynal shown in the 1hr 6 minute to about 1 hr 12 minute range of this Day 4 at Laguna Seaca clip. Chad has visited NZ for historic events at HD and also the 2019 Taupo Historic Meet. He does an incredible job preparing 10 Historic Trans Am cars and driving his own 1969 Camaro # 64 really well. He is a very good friend to some of us and especially our own Bruce Thompson (Bruce 302).

Check this one out also.(Day 4 )

In my absence my friends, Stu Hanssen and John Adams offered to get me, an always sought after programme, Stu would drive his historic 1951 Baldwin and John would take some photos which I will share with you here.
Thanks Stu for a wonderful drive only slowing when the tires went off after 7 laps of a 9 lap race and also thanks to John for sharing these photos.

" The 1951 Baldwin Hanssen Special driven by Stu Hanssen. The Special was raced in the mid-1950s by William Hanssen throughout California at events such as those at Santa Barbara, Palm Springs and Pebble Beach. Stu is William Hanssen’s son and is a long time SCCA racer in his own right in both Formula Ford and Formula 2000. The Baldwin Hanssen Special is the third of the iconic California Specials built by Willis Baldwin in Santa Barbara, CA. The car was built on a shortened and boxed 1947 Ford sedan chassis and has Ford running gear. The engine is a hot rod Ford Flathead V8 with an Ardun overhead valve conversion. Baldwin had a fully enveloping all aluminum body fabricated for this Special."

Chris MacAllister has a fleet of original historic race cars and along with his son Alex, they drove some of these cars wearing helmets that matched the original drivers such as Niki Lauda and Jim Clark.
Some more fine John Adams photos of the MacAlllister collection.

" 1964 MG Liquid Suspension Special

Designed by Kjell Qvale the head of the BMC in San Francisco, and race car engineer Joe Huffaker. It featured a chrome molybdenum chassis with a fiberglass body, and was powered by a 255 cubic-inch Offenhauser racing engine. Named the 'Liquid Suspension Special' because it used the same hydro-lastic shock absorbers that were used in the production MG sedans.

Remember reading about that car back in the day - there was a lot of interest as it did use " Hydrolastic " suspension / shock absorbers - long time ago !

Vollstedt 1967 Indy car # 21.
I didn't know much about this car and I have trouble spelling the name correctly !
John's photos jogged my memory reminding me that Jim Clark had driven this car at Riverside in 1967.

I applied for a job opening advertised in "Autosport" in1973 at Team Lotus so I have always had those JPS cars as a favorite even though Peter Warr passed me over for someone much more qualified.
I was living a dream !

Roger,
You are correct and thanks for keeping me inline.
It is the same 1949 Baldwin I saw at Laguna in May when driven by Robert Manson.
It was driven here in August by Don Pepperdene so I got caught out, please excuse !
