H'mm. Yes, I was wondering if the system will crash or roll over to zero.

Might have to celebrate by re-posting one or two favourites, or accept requests!

Rolls Marina
"The Marina Rolls Royce was the brainchild of Alan Mann then running Andrews Garage in Southwick and later to become better known for being the proprietor of Alan Mann Racing. The Marina was designed and built by Malcolm King who had sold it to Alan and Brian Mann Its multi-tubular spaceframe chassis carried a conventional front-mounted radiator and its main longeron tubes performed double duty, carrying coolant to and from the Rolls-Royce power unit. Girling discs brakes were fitted, while the front and rear suspension systems were essentially Formula 1 Cooper, and it was Alan and Brian Mann who managed to cram the 6 litre Rolls Royce engine into the multi-tubular spaceframe chassis in much the same way as the Cooper King Cobra. The result was a well balanced car with a low frontal area."

Seems that it should have been named Marina Rolls not Rolls Marina in my filing system!

Fair enough Roger.

Our Rovers, a few year's back. Both excellent trouble free secondhand cars I might add - 1999. The MR2 MRS plate was originally bought for my wife's Toyota MR2. At the Auckland launch of the MGF, I enquired about 'MRS 2 MR', so I acquired that too.

Left - 214 Cabriolet - which was a lively performer. Rover 420GSi on the right. Last saloon before switching to Land Rover Freelanders.

199_1200_07 2 Rover.jpg

...and the only family car we ever had in the UK - and that didn't last long, as it had an appetite for half shafts. Effectively scrapped for 5 quid in 1965. Now only about a dozen left in the world.

Singer - taken from a glass quarter plate negative, probably 1952. Note the radio aerial, but I can't remember it having a radio, even though Dad, ex Royal Signals, was a part time radio repairer.

Thanks Ray - our only Rover was - snap - a 1995 Rover 216i Cabriolet owned from 1997 to around 2004 - we were going to sell in 2000 as had just bought a BMW 318 Compact, but our son came home from Australia and needed wheels so rather than buy and sell we hung on to it - he later took over UN7284 in 2004 the Green MX5 purchased in 1996 which we still have.

Should be at Caffeine and Classics again but the August meeting - fits in with another trip to Auckland
and now 3500 + posts !!

Not sure if anyone is aware of the new MSNZ Media Accreditation policy published July 24th? Only 7 pages of it.

They want events and motorsport publicising - but seem to be doing their level best to make sure it isn't publicised, by those of us who are freelance anyway.

We have questioned this and in particular for all you freelance photographers and given a list of names which includes you as well Ray.
Working with Tim Hill of HRC Events and I am more than happy to support an application from any of you from our own Club as well.

Cheers

Thanks Bruce. It was Tim who alerted me. Appreciate the support.

I'm afraid I'm very much in the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it', school of thought. Not sure if Nigel is aware, as MSNZ apparently only sent the info out to their own media people.

For those who are not aware, even though free lance photographers such as Nigel and myself, have media accreditation with HRC and Hampton Downs, neither of us qualified as MSNZ Media. MSNZ are now insisting that ALL media are only accredited through them, each with his/her own vest, but the qualifying criteria is way over the top.

They are also grading them Gold, Silver and Bronze, meaning of course that those at the lower level can only cover club events and have to be under the wing of a more senior person at higher profile events... Most of our events are National.

As we have often been the only two taking photographs at some events, particularly on the Friday or Saturday, quite how this will help publicise the sport is beyond me. There will also be restrictions to photographing in the pits, requiring fire resistant clothing in some instances.

I gather one rally photographer sadly lost his life, even though 200m from the road, in a freak accident, so once again, seems like a panic and over-reaction to an isolated incident. Probably not helped by government or council H & S interference and the usual blame game.

I bet my Dad would be rolling his eyes, given his trackside access at Donington with no Armco or concrete as protection and 600BHP Mercedes and Auto Unions on skinny tyres.

Hung up the crash helmet 2016.

Is it now time to hang up the camera?

Ray, Tim Hill sent me a heads up but I'm not planning on doing anything. If that's what MSNZ want then I'll probably just walk away and do something else.

Not exactly an incentive is it Nigel. Fortunately, Hampton Downs does at least have some good viewing/photographic spots from the spectator areas, but that isn't the point.

T - British road

Talbot

Tojeiro - may have been published before, but worth reposting. AU = Nottinghamshire registration.

Triumph - another with an AU registration!

Turner - Arthur Nash, who rebuilt my 1300cc Mini engine. Pity I never got to run it again in the UK as it would have been interesting to compare times. Sold the twin SU's only last week on TradeMe. Heading for a race Austin A40 in Hastings.
