Just looking at these photo's BMC BOY and ERC - this car looks similar to the " Hawaiian Corvette Special " that Mike Ryan - ex pat Kiwi living in California found and is restoring, when he is not working on others cars ..BMCBOY wrote:This is a Devon Healey 100 V8 powered I saw for sale on the net some years ago. It had a tubular subframe welded to the original chassis and a fibreglass body. Probably a nice quick car that handled pretty well. The V8 would have been a similar weight to the 100/4 engine with a lot more power!!

Sunbeam Rapier Race #159
note from post #481
" Possibly Steve Whitren or maybe even Andrew Thorne in the Rapier, but no date "
ERC the photo ;your ref on the image " 185 Untitled-4 Sunbeam
Think the car is /was owned by Owen Fausett - he raced at the Telecom Classic Motorfest both years.
In 1993 as race #159 or #59, and in 1994 as Race #54 - the other Sunbeam in 1994 was John Boyd in #54 -
I think that John Boyd's car was a similar colour scheme.
Owens car in 1994; the #59 covered up racing as #54
The entry list from Telecom
1993 Saloons Gp 1. John Boyd in Raper #54
Owen in Rapier #159 or 59 - probably the same numbers as on the car at Pukekohe - so maybe your photo is 1993 Ray ??
The 1994 event entry list with both John Boyd and Owen Fausett
Remember seeing Owen at Whenuapai in the early 1990's as well -
I knew him initially from working at ANZ Bank New Lynn, from 1985 -87 and again late 1988 to early 1992 - most of our " meetings " the conversation was on cars with the smaller part on the " business " - think I actually helped him buy the Rapier.
[ my numbering of the photos as " Telecom Motorfest 1994 # ?? 1993 " when for the 1993 event details. is confusing but suits my system - or lack of ?? ]

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
PC thrown a real wobbly. Got to wait now for 'Geeks on Wheels', Thursday…
Owen passed away last year and he was a regular poster on the 'TradeMe' motoring message board, usually having a dig at any 'Morris Garages' car, including my own.
Tech couldn't sort the issue so just taken the PC away. OS aggro. May be back in a week's time... Grrrr.
Although I have back ups of the 50,000 pics, work on the more recent stuff - which is when they are filed, a bit trickier.
Next PC will have the Operating System on a totally separate drive from the programmes and data, rather than a partitioned drive as at present. Thought I was being smart with the drive partitioned "C" for programmes, "F" for the data. Technology has moved on - again. Data will all be saved OK but very frustrating as I don't download emails onto the laptop. I can read and reply, but they are ony downloaded to the PC.
May just have to watch some live streamed Goodwood - but not staying up through the night!

When the flag dropped, the BSA Special was the only car you heard!
Wheeee!
Not in the programme... presuming also an 'International'. Watching them into the hairpin, it looked to be a bumpy ride for the karts!

Ray,
The go-karts have changed a bit since I first saw them compete in a field near Te Aroha in 1959.
Note the designer of this US model in 1959.
A certain Mr. Frank Kurtis who knew how to turn out a fine product. (Ken H photo..)

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
Red single seaters - but it took 20 minutes of internet searching to find out what one of them is, as once again, not in the programme, nor on the lists I have. I always have this problem with several classes of single seaters. Needless to say, it is usually the late entrants who have cars I can't readily identify! If I was looking to spend even a modest amount on sponsorship, (which I am not), it certainly wouldn't be on a driver who was so disorganised that they couldn't even get the car entered in time.
Why don't all series post a list of their current drivers, cars and race numbers? Even the lap times only list the driver's name, rarely the car. Even though I am no longer tied to the ERC Series, Chris and I have tried to ensure that the website is virtually up to date with a list of entrants - past and present, with a photograph of mine where possible.

Anyone want to buy a Formula Junior Gemini? (Non standard steering wheel.)
Mike Sexton had a slight hiccup with his Gemini.

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
A query. Nash/Austin Metropolitans. As I understand it this was car designed by Nash, built by Austin, using Austin engines.
OK. So initially, left hand drive for the USA, so no problems. It's a Nash Metropolitan.
Later, they did right hand drives for the UK, Austin Metropolitans.
However, in NZ they later sold right hand drive but badged only Metropolitans.
Filing photographs, I therefore file LHD, USA, Nash.
But, do I just bite the bullet and file all RHD's as Austins? Not that it matters to anyone of course, or should I file them all as Austin's or all as Nash's?
Given that looking at them, the only differences appear to be which side the steering wheel is located.
Even our British badged cars may be made in Europe and Japanese cars built in England as were some Citroens years ago.
Interesting to know what the main criteria is and how others see it.
