That sure is a fantastic looking machine Steve, I like those a lot, about 3 inches longer than the 64 falcon, same chassis.
Here are some pics of the larger 1964 Mercury Marauder big block (shares the Galaxie chassis)
They also offered a Super Marauder option with hipo 390 or 427 and 4 speed
They were about 1800kg in full trim

Re: Photos: 2018 Monterey Motorsports Reunion
Those rear bumper blocks did not look like they were very effective on # 81 !
Must have got a new bumper when the license plates were changed ?
Yes both of these Mercury Comets were at Laguna this year.
Rolo Malschafky drove # 174
Greg Umphenour drove # 81 (Aren't those great names for race drivers !)
Plus Paul this little beauty also competed, a 1963 Ford Falcon Sprint Hardtop # 263.
Driven by Keith Davidson. Note the famous name of Walt Hane on the car.
(Ken H photo..)
Paul, you have to put this event on your "bucket list" after which we can head off to Goodwood for the racing there.
( I love watching the drifting there that is not noted at Laguna Seca.)
Ken

On display were the Lola T 70s driven by Dan Gurney and John Surtees in the 1966 Can Am Series.
Gurney in Lola # 30 had a Ford engine while Surtees in Lola # 3 had Chevrolet power.
This is a scene from the Ford Motorsports archive showing Gurney and Surtees side by side as they are about to practice and try to qualify for the very first Can Am race on Sept. 11 1966 at the St Jovite circuit near Montreal.

Hi Paul, I don't know if its a S55? I assume thats the sporty version? I doubt thats what this is. I think this is a Montclair.

Hi Steve,
The 1962-3 S55 was the performance option big block (390 4bbl & 6 pack, 427 4bbl and 2x 4bbl versions). The S-55 had an interior with bucket seats and a floor-mounted shifter for auto & manual.
They skipped 1964 & 1965 with an "S55 model" but all the same options for S55s were offered in these years.
Have you got ant pics yet of your one coming?

Ken, Arent the T70s a beautifully balanced design, and at 725kg with 490hp it would have been a rocket ship in the day.
Great pics too!
Cheers

Re: Photos: 2018 Monterey Motorsports Reunion
It has been 3 weeks since I went for one day to Laguna Seca and I am still putting in photos.
Sorry folks, I will try and get my A into G and get this completed before the next event !
Here are some of the photos in no particular order but I will try to explain the content.
Australian driver Chris Farrell in his 1982 March 821 Formula 1 car # 18 being pushed through the paddock by members of Tony Nicholson's Robin Automotive crew.
A beautiful 1957 Maserati 450 S # 71 driven by David Swig.
It looks like Michael Summers 1962 Lotus 23B # 44 has been entered in quite a few events over the years !
(John Adams photos.)

Interesting photos - Ken - have both cars in 1;43 scale but my Surtees car which is Red with White stripes was number 7 .. Surtees had # 7 on many of his cars. The Gurney car is the " Bardahl Special "..

Re: Photos: 2018 Monterey Motorsports Reunion
Thanks Terry,
I learn a lot also as I enter what I can.
It is taking a lot longer for me at the moment as I often can't get into TRS and I have to wait and then after awhile it comes back on.
Are you having issues like that "Down Under " ?
Ken

I have been shut out from TRS for over an hour.
This is happening on a regular basis.
Are you guys trying to get rid of me ?

I am back !
1976 Lola T332C # 64 driven by Adrian Arkhurst from the Adelaide area.
It was good to see a Theodore Racing machine again with the favorite # 64 on it.
It brought back memories of the days in 1975 when I hung around with the team at Long Beach and Riverside.
It was also good to meet up with Howden Ganley and remember our days of working at Trojan Works and the Hewland Transmissions.
He was there in 1966-67 and I was there in 1972-73. He has a very interesting memory of those times.
You can read more about Howden's tales at this site.
