John Hawkins

Post by Michael Clark »

I'm sorry that my first post takes this tone - I am sad to report NZ Racer's John Hawkins has passed away, having succumbed to the dreaded cancer - as advised in an email this morning from Allan Dick.

John was a great guy and a good man in 'motor racing trivia' games. I seem to recall he won a early quiz in Allan's auto NEWS and subsequently wrote for various magazines before 'NZ Racer'.

RIP Hawke

I knew as soon as I read the title to this thread it was going to be bad news. I'm very sorry to hear this. John was a lovely bloke and a real enthusiast. Really sorry to hear he is gone. RIP John.

Thanks for letting us know Michael.

John's website was where I went to get most of my motorsport news - especially the local historic events. He will be sadly missed.
