Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
Agree Paul - and Rhys!
My only run in a single seater was a 1 day course at Brands Hatch, which included not many laps in a Formula Ford - with a strict, low rev limit, which made it a less than exciting experience. The three laps or whatever it was, with the instructor driving a Ford Escort Mexico was far more enjoyable - and quicker.

My single seater ambition would probably be a 1.5 litre V8 BRM. Anything from the 1966 F1 cars onwards would probably be well beyond my modest capabilities, but who knows.

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
Thanks Ken.
Probably an appropriate time to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a great 2018. Thanks to all who have posted comments, compliments and answered so many queries.
We are not away over Christmas so I might still carry on adding pics whilst doing the annual PC file clean up and yet another back up.
Most important of all, remember that everyone else on the road is a half blind, fast asleep drunken idiot, so watch out.

Still in November...

Rob Berrgren - Dodge Viper.
Good to see Johan back out again. Francois in the other Renault was one of the cars involved in the first corner mayhem.
This mid-engined pocket rocket Nissan was very much in the spirit of the older sport sedans.
Nice also to see another private collection car out and about.
Posted for the benefit of Paul Madeley who I believe has had a hand in this car.
An hour after I posted this pic, saw the car, on our way home from the daily coffee stop!

Sorry to mess with your pics Ray. This is Grant Clearwater at Brighton Speed trials. In his words "the old guy is Leslie Marr who owned and drove it in the day"

Brighton Speed Trials! Amazing that a straight line sprint attracted some high profile cars over the years. Sadly, we lost one of our regular sprinters there, when Harry Sword in a TVR Turbo crashed just after the finish line, so even a straight sprint could claim lives.

Check the rear lower bodywork additions. I wonder how much difference that really makes?

On to the December TACCOC 'Christmas at the Downs'.

First time out with the new lens - which is a bit cumbersome - and the monopod that someone kindly gave me, is sturdy, but too short! (There are times when being a six footer has disadvantages.) One bonus advantage over my usual lens is the ability to see driver faces more clearly, which can be interesting.
First set up from the AES (ERC) Series.
John Palmer's accidental extra cooling system tested the safety catch.

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
A quick dip into the Smales Farm Caffeine & Classics meeting this morning. Chatting to others from the race scene we expected a smaller turnout than usual, bearing in mind the holiday weekend. Just how wrong can you be? A staggering number of cars yet again, and the best monthly free show in town - ever. This just goes from strength to strength and is now a must every month (usually the 4th Sunday) and right alongside the motorway (Takapuna off ramp) - just as long as it doesn't clash with a race meeting of course and well worth a visit.
Something for everyone.

This Porsche was attracting a lot of well deserved attention.
Hi Paul!
Oh boy! This was also attracting a lot of attention.
Expect to see this glorious Austin Healey out soon in Classic Trials.

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
A Happy New Year everyone, wherever you are and whatever your fortunes or misfortunes of 2017, I sincerely hope 2018 will be better.
No New Year resolutions from me. No smoking to give up, no flab to get rid of (well, not much), never been addicted to the booze or throwing my money away on dogmeat racing, Lotto or mind altering substances anyway.
I will continue to post a 'Mix of Pics' whenever I can, but I hope Steve's Internet guru promises to resolve the frustrating picture uploading issue that has dogged the site for the last few months.
Meanwhile, thanks to all posters on here (all threads) who add so much value to "The Roaring Season" and a massive thank you to Steve for running it.

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
Ray great photos, missed it this month and as it happens the MX5 wouldn't start today so - wouldn't have made it anyway.
Allan Horner tells me the 3000 race replica is ex Andrew Shrimpton, and will be used in Classic Trials at Puke and Hampton in the future.
Ray also your next post agree, and your stuff has been brilliant, so many different events .. TRS is a great Forum for all of us with Petrol in our veins !!..

LOL My old MGF started OK... The 2002 Cooper S is still on its original battery but was reluctant to fire this afternoon. Lets see if the CTEK charger can get enough juice into it. (Repco have them reduced this week so I bought a second.)

I'm not sure what happened to Arthur's Wolseley as this was taken early in practice, and I didn't see it on track again.

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
I am not sure either Ray as it lasted 1 lap of qualifying and he put it on the trailer and went home.
I didn’t come up for the meeting as originally planned and after my wife suffered a sudden illness that put everything on hold.
I must give him a call.
Great photo of the car as usual Ray.
Cheers
