I'm not sure how much effect the Vulcan style rear under tray has on a Mini.
The Aussie Racers/Star Cars don't look out of place sharing the track with the Minis, but there was a fair performance discrepancy.

Painted on card and looking a bit grubby, (don't use blu-tak) but as it is OK to post faded, out of focus, distant photographs out of historical interest, I thought I may as well show these.
Needless to say, whilst most 20 year olds in NZ would have been hooning around in their old cars, chasing (and probably catching) nubile young maidens, lubricating the tonsils with Lion Red or DB Brown, some of us were somewhat cash strapped and unable to afford such things, so evenings were spent at home with the record player playing jazz, (whilst everyone else had graduated to the Liverpool sound), reading Motorsport and Miniature Auto from cover to cover and painting.

I'm flattered guys! A tee shirt. Never thought about that, but just out of interest, which one or two would be worth doing?
Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
One each year Ray...they are awesome. Talk to Steve when he gets back from holiday.

There was a tee-shirt around some 20 years ago that had line drawings of a Lancia D50, Maserati 250F, W196 and a Vanwall - four great front-engine F1 cars. Milan can possibly supply a photo - I always thought a run of tee-shirts would be good, each with a theme.
For example - here you've got early McLaren F1 cars. Do we know anyone who has an insight into the tee-shirt business?

Steve Holmes our TRS leader owns a company that is Monster Racewear and all our TRS tees come from his artwork, talent and good looks....

That sounds like the modern "buzz word" of "synergy". Ray give me a subscription as you release them PLEASE.

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
Now that makes more sense. Several on one - costs about the same anyway.
It is not so much the Tee shirt business as such, but the printing, as all tee shirts are bought in. (Sad isn't it - way back in 1977 when I worked for a Marks & Spencer manufacturer in the UK, the total labour time to manufacture a top quality tee shirt was just 5 minutes...)
Do I take commissions Rhys? The answer is yes, but I need to sit down and get stuck in and be in the mood, so I don't really paint very often these days. My retirement mission was learning Ragtime piano, but the duff left hand put paid to that. I haven't manaqed more than 1 painting in any one year - and only 1 completed since we started cruising every winter! Cruising is now on hold so who knows.
Maybe when this next winter comes along, I could be motivated?
incidentally, Chaindrive might be interested in this. The side view paintings were based on drawings in a long defunct British modelling magazine called "Miniature Auto", by 'Malcolm T Firth'. I still have the magazines.
Many will also remember the excellent 'Profile' series of booklets of interesting cars. They also contained plan views of the subject. I still have 15 of them. Sample below. Most were purchased at reduced prices, possibly at the Racing Car Show held every January at Olympia.

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
And of course there is a real Connaught in NZ, not sure if it's this exact one.

This idea is getting better and better, I love the idea of the Miniature Auto magazine pics to.
If Steve H is too busy, I might be able to help with the Tee shirts Ray as I have a past contact.
Wouldn't you just love to take the Connaught out for a strop around the track, super cool.
Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
I have been told the Connaught is the same model, different chassis number.

Whilst we are on the subject...

Silverstone Grand Prix meeting 1977
2009 Goodwood - pocket camera only!
Grant Clearwater - NZ. January 2010 at the first of the Hampton Downs festivals. Probably one of the best too.
Monaco 2012
In 2016, some still haven't fitted rollover bars. Presumably a matter of choice in the UK. Maybe this is the one depicted in the Profile booklet #42? (Retail price two shillings - about 20c NZ. I wish I'd bought more as the BRM V16 I have is #96 and as posted above, I only have 15 of them. The words 'impecunious enthusiast' would describe me pretty well at the time.)
[/CENTER]
I love these diversions as an excuse to dig into the past. One Bernie Ecclestone bought the Connnaught team. I wonder what happened to him?

Re: Just A Mix Of Pics - Ray Green Collection
I think I would be more worried about the fuel tanks on both sides of the car, but that's how they built them back then.
Still a very good looking machine. It would be a nice sensation racing in an open single seater car, something I have not done... yet.
A good one for the bucket list

Probably a whole lot better than the seat being the tank, and extras over your legs in front of the dash?
