Bruce Blacklock collection
THese photos are from Bruce Blacklock longtime member of the Auckland Car Club,in the days when Jimmy Richards raced his Anglia up Bombay Hillclimb, and when it broke down,he then used his Anglia van tow wagon ,Eric Mallard,Mike Marshall,Ron Brown,Allan Boyle ,Rod Collingwood,Peter Bruin, etc etc, great days and great fun.A lot of ACC members also bit voluntary work at the track, pit marshalls etc,oh how lucky we were inbeing able to put these Tasman and local drivers onto there grid spots, everyone was approachable not like today.Enjoy his photos. We know of another collection owned by Doug Wentworth also an old ACC memeber and MG Midget peddler, photos and videos........we are working on getting these somehow as they sit in his garage molding away.

Wow, Ross these are absolutely stunning! Thanks so much for sharing them, and thanks also to Bruce.
They are really crisp, clear images. Are they taken from slides?
Thanks again Ross.

Looks like David McKay of Scuderia Veloce? I assume this would have been taken when Andy Buchanan was racing the Ferrari.

Yes it is David McKay but that was 1966 when Spencer Martin drove the Ferrari and a Brabham for Scuderia Veloce.

Thanks
With the Anglia, the surname is McCallum, I was thinking Rod?

Would that be Bryan Innes walking between the Anglia # 68 and the # 69 Morris Mini Cooper in the # 2 posting ?

Bruce had a caption on his facebook page which as i recall said it was Hugh Kettlewell,a very rapid Mini peddler.

Mini Race #69
The Car is Hugh Kettelwell's and that is him walking between the cars - he was my Solicitor when I bought the first house in 1973.
Identified by Alan Boyle, another Mini Racer, was his Solicitor too !!.
Hugh later on had a rather bad racing accident at Pukekohe at another meeting
Interestingly I posted the photo on Facebook " Old NZ Motor Racing " page and Bruce Blacklock as well as Alan Boyle replied about Hugh and the accident.
Alan Boyles Mini - as an aside
My Mini, never raced just thrashed, although did drive around Pukekohe to get to the Flag Marshall point - never realised until then how tight the hairpin is

Re: Bruce Blacklock collection
Roger,
With those wide front wheels and double over riders, did you use the Mini for starting the midgets at Western Springs ?
That's a real "chic magnet" mate.
Where is the steering wheel ? Sorry I forgot that I am the one that lives where you drive on the "Parkway" and park in the driveway !
