I presume the ex Rex Flowers Gemini from the 1961-62 period. I think this car went through a ton of owners and was converted to a sportscar at one time. Apart from the roll over bar, restored back to Flowers colours.

The Mallock U2 was a copy by Jack Oakley and Graham McRae, swapped for McRae's first Brabham I think. I first saw this car at one of the very first Pukekohe club meetings on the new (then) club track. I think somebody from Matamata had it then.

With the Rex Flowers Gemini Mk3A - here is a photo of Rex pushing the car to the finish over Pukekohe's "hill". I understand he pushed it all the way from the back straight.

Roger ,that photo illustrates the last minute rush that took place to get Pukekohe finished for that meeting ,if you look to the left of the photo a lot of the machinery is still there on site ,I used to drive around past there on the way home after work in the evenings and check on the progress in the days leading up to that meeting ,there is I think still a bit of a overview on Stevensons web site about the short length of time it took them to do the job ,you especially would appreciate the fact that would be impossible today with all the resource consents etc needed

Heres's another shot of Rex Flowers having a breather before taking on the "hill". It shows more of the new track that Bob mentioned.

Interestingly, with such a relatively small race marque as Gemini, there are two Gemini Mk3A cars in NZ plus the first ever built Gemini (a front engined Mk2) and the only Gemini Mk3 made.

Yes, it is the Frank Matich Lotus 19 Monte Carlo. This was written off by one of Matich's mechanics and the remains constructed into a Lotus 19B for Matich. A few years ago a car, purportedly created out of a few bits of the crashed 19, was built up and sold as Matich's Lotus 19.
I'm not 100% sure the photo is at Warwick Farm - it was in a bundle of Ardmore and Pukekohe photos - did Matich ever bring the Lotus 19 to NZ?

Frank Matich brought it here along with the Brabham which Red Dawson later owned ,in 1964 and competed at the Mount Maunganui street race and Pukekohe NZIGP.
The Customline ute is a bit of a period time piece, they actually went not too bad for their time ,from memory they were lighter than the car !

Weren't they called Mainline utes?

Matich really showed up the state of NZ sportscar racing that year, in what was basically a four-year-old car. Most of our stock was even older...

Sorry if this is a bit OT, I can currently reply, but not log on for a New Thread??
Were there HillClimbs in the Auckland Domain in the very early 1970s?
If so who ran them, and does anyone have a programme for 71 which I can check and entry please?

Off the top of my head, OF, I don't think they started till the 1980s

If there were any that early, my guess is they would have been run by the Waitemata branch of the Vintage Car Club (and probably didn't run to programmes)

If you're trying to ID a photo, bang it up - someone will recognise it

I would agree with the "current" TACCOC version, but perhaps there were Auckland Car Club, Northern Sports, or was the University Club still going then??
