John Gott was the 'flying policeman'. Formerly Chief Constable of Northamptonshire I think.

John was guest speaker at one of the few annual dinners of the NSCC (Nottingham Sports Car Club) I attended, back in about 1970/71/72. An excellent speaker he was too. I think I posted a pic of his Healey on my picture thread ages ago.

ABL6 .. a major rebuild
ABL6, the Modsport Healey 3000 .. has been around in that " Modsport " state since the 1970's
Steve Pike, was involved with the rebuild and it getting to the UK .. Will try to find some of Steve's pictures of the rebuild and post them, as a theme in this thread.. have photos by BMC BOY as well, will group them..
Will do the same with well known cars ;
BMC BOYS own BN7,
3000, Mark Donaldson' s BN2, and some others..
and a few Specials, this is a Healey 100 - Jaguar in the USA..

From the Teretonga 25 book; Healey most likely Peter McFarlane, #32 Peter Preston, #55 Doug MacDonald

AHCCNZ Classic Hillclimb Otaua, 1983 the Results
JAFA wrote:Roger, the Otaua Hill Climb is alive and well, and has been for at least the last 15 years I've been a member of the MGCC. The MGCC ( Auckland ) still organise and run it, in fact the 2015 edition was run just a couple of weeks ago.
Finally have a copy of the results of the 1983 event, the only year I raced in my Healey 100/4..
I may have actually typed them up,so long ago !! as we sent them to all competing clubs after the event
These were sent to me by Stuart Short, whose Dad Jim Short got FTD that day.. Jim advised was the second running of the event .. other years including 1982, and 1984 - 1990 I was involved as a Marshall, when most of my photos were taken or in the last 3 or so years Organiser [ arrange the permit with Franklin County, while Reg Whittaker would speak with the locals on Maioro Rod,being the local School Teacher, and living in the next road Bothwell Park Rd, he knew them all, Reg also arranged for the " Long Drop " toilet that features in some photos.
Have a photo of Jim Short in the Porsche from Stuart, must find it
Just noticed the incorrect spelling of Healey at the top of the results .. grrr ..

Austin Healey 100S
This car is the one that is still in NZ having been rebuilt, Allan Dick is doing an article in the #70 Edition of Classic Driver
due out early 2017 [ late Dec 2016 - the Jan-Feb issue ]
Allan posted these two pictures recently of a different 100S , the car at Balcultha around 1963, being driven by Fred Losee .. this car is now back in the USA, Fred Losee was an American based in the South Island in the early 1960's, the 100S in the article is the Seabrook Fowlds / Ross Jensen / Graham Pierce car AHS 3908
will have more details when the magazine comes out, hopefully I am still here in NZ, otherwise, will get a family member to buy and post, cannot get the magazine in Brisbane where I am ..
and another Healey photo, coz two is not enough !!
Jim Reece's "Mongrel " a fairly modified AH 3000, which was probably in Palmerston North when this was taken mid 1970's,Jim still has the car and now lives in Picton ..
The Mongrel again being used as a tow car ..
Will post an article on Jim's car as he has provided a lot of details of the modifications and it's History, Car has been seen on this thread among cars at New Plymouth in 1976, and again at Rotorua in 1980, at AHCCNZ, National Rally's, which I also attended, New Plymouth in the Triumph GT6, and Rotorua in the Triumph TR4A..

Jim Reece's " The Mongrel " and others at Manfield 1990's ?? and a couple more
Another Jim Reece photo recently posted from late 1980's - early 1990's !!.
There is a comment about the Sprite in the background with an unusual Hardtop.
There was a yellow Sprite,I remember that had a modified Triumph Herald hardtop, could it be this car ??
seen here at a Gymkaha in West Auckland in around 1983
another Jim Reece supplied photo,Jim driving Tim Jolley's 3000

Top photo is Wigram in 1956 100S ahead of Tom Sulman in the Aston Martin,
Middle photo a very mixed grid Dunedin Road Race also 1956
lower left phtos, the 100S in Australia for the TT race at Albert Park, and right the engine with twin Webers

George Lawton and his Austin Healey ( and Cooper Bobtail )
Graham Woods sent me these photos and programme pages which show George Lawton's cars - photo, and entry list where he raced them both at different times
the Cars
entered at Teretonga in 1958, in the Healey 100/6
- as mentioned the description 100S is incorrect for the 2639 cc cars as they are 100/6, the G Pierce is a 100S and the J Grieve car may also be
and at Waimate in the Cooper in 1959, with two Healey's in the race, including A Kennard ; Healey - Corvette

Bernie Huynen / Phil Mules Austin Healey 3000 BT7
Bernie Huynen, currently owns the BT7, with NZ Reg BT7, was owned by Phil Mules, who now lives on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Phil raced the car for several years including at the Telecom Motorfest in 1994, Bernie has raced it at Hampton Downs and the car has recently been refurbished, and went for a run and to a Car Show last weekend.
here are a few shots of the car.
Bernie has had a few Healey's over the years, including the " infamous " in AHCCNZ, Valiant Healey, seen here at a Rally at Masterton in 1989
Bernie is having a tough time Healthwise at the moment, so the trip to the Car Show just recently was a big event, cheers Bernie.

Hi I found this forum as I had been searching for any information about my half brother Phillip Summerfield last known location around Taumarunui who I have not seen in many years (however he has likely passed on). When I googled the number plate of his Austin Healey this page came up so I thought I would share the only photo I have of him and it features the same car, which as far as I know he owned but I have no idea what year it would have been

This Mk 2 BT7 is pictured after 1984, as it was still LHD when Graham Roberts was racing it in the Perrier Le Mans race for the Austin Healey Club team. It was changed to RHD at a later date and is still in the club.
