Wow Jeff, these are outstanding! Thanks for posting. I'm pretty sure these are from the Bay Park Xmas event in late 1970.
Do you have any others?

There are some more Steve , but I think dad only had a fixed lens in those days so the racing is too far away to be any real use. These are the best , close up's I have. John Riley had help going through that fence ( and ironically hitting the Ford sign ) but the other photo's don't show it that well.

Jeff, quality is not important, these photos are part of history, and the others will be worth posting, even if the racing is " too far away "
keep them coming.. and thanks

Jeff, I agree with Roger. These photos are all gold. And they're all worth sharing, because they're history.

Hi guys , here are the other photo's on the negs from Baypark.
Seems like John Riley had "help" from Clyde Collins towards the fence.
There's some single seaters and mini's from the same meeting and also some mini's from Pukekohe.
Enjoy

I'm hoping one day a colour photo of this field of cars will one day be unearthed. For enthusiasts of top flight sedans, this was just about as good as it got, and definitely one of the best line-ups seen in NZ.
The international drivers included Terry Allan and Bryan Thomson from Australia in their big block Camaros, along with American driver Joe Chamberlain in his A/Sedan and Trans-Am Camaro.
Kiwi contingent included Paul Fahey in his newly built '70 Mustang fastback, as well as Rod Coppins in the Cambridge Camaro, John Riley in the ex-Fahey Mustang, Clyde Collins in the PDL Falcon, Jim Richards in the Willment Escort, Jim Palmer in the Foley Porsche, Rodger Anderson in the Cambridge BMW, etc etc. The only big name missing was Red Dawson, who'd had a mechanical failure in his Mustang.
This was the event where they had to shut the gates just after lunch on the Sunday because the place was filled to capacity.
Thanks for sharing Jeff, these are so cool.

Terry Allen was sporting his new Castrol colours there, previous visit was dark blue.
Fantastic weather, cars and racing.
Track and field did not favour the big blocks,....

True, although that looks more like Pukekohe after the hairpin than at Bay Park.
Great little car.

There are some guys out there Steve who are very skilled at colourizing photographs taken in black and white, like this photo of Guy Gibson and the dambusters
