Hill, Frank Gardner, and Leo Geoghegan squabble over second place on the opening lap, while Clark bolts away in front. Gardner finished well down, while Geoghegan slipped to fourth at the finish, behind an impressive Piers Courage driving a 1.6 litre McLaren M4A against the more powerful Tasman cars.
