That Red Healey again,
That is the end of Napier 1984, will follow with Rotorua a mix of 1985 and 1986 pics, then we will go further back in time to 1980 and few from 1976 at New Plymouth, the first AHCCNZ Rally I attended in a Triumph GT6.

Found a few more from Napier, and the story of the Puketapu Tavern [ Hotel actually according to the name over the door ]..
Heading out from the Motor Camp at Havelock North,
This car was the third Sprite purchased in 1979 !!, sold by my ex-wife in 1983 to this young couple.
Frank Karls other Healey complete with gunsight on the bonnet, being repaired again, puncture on the way down, and now this
Wayne Brown in ID 9783 It ran 14 inch X 6 inch Hotwire Mags, sat rather low, even with 185 x 14's
Puketapu Hotel
The visit was the second one as on Saturday we had arrived by Bus on the Saturday afternoon as part of a tour, the Americans liked it so much as did the publican, a few consumed and some takeaways for later. this was on the Monday when many headed home, a group of us stayed on to revisit.
Outside the Tavern 50% Americans / 50% Kiwi's counting the camera Guy
BMC BOY on the left, and the two in blue are rest of the four that went to the USA in 1982 and traveled in the VW Kombi for several months
That now is the final pics from 1984 Rally

EC4802 the LHD Sprite
Ross Hollings wrote:Roger, EC 4802 was the Mk1 Sprite i restored which eventually went to Japan. The first owner was a Leslie Grant Bradley ,car registered here on 24 th October 1968.Your name features on page 3 of the rego papers i still have. You bought it from a somebody in Taupaki.Passed through Ken Smith and Chequered Flag car sales. We bought it in 1987 and restored it over 3 years,it is in the photo of the row of Healeys.
Ross has kindly sent me the Registrations papers [ originals and marked " cancelled " ], for the Sprite EC4802, chassis # AN5L 7311 under our ownership [ in my ex-wifes name actually - in the LH Drivers seat in the picture ] from 28 July 1978 to 11 November 1980, when sold to Craig Fisher, Max Fisher's son. Ross bought it 11 March 1987.
Thanks for the papers Ross and the picture you sent me taken according to the back in 1990.
This " EC4802 "
which had this
became this " 59BUG I "
A great job Ross,

Would be worth having, 4A judging by the side lights and chrome trim on the front guard, with the Targa / Surrey type roof [ the word Targa not used for them back then ], on Strombergs, mine a '67 had SU's. Damn I miss my TR4A - sold to help buy a house as at the time was in rebuilt condition and worth more then the Healey I also had the '53 100.. torn between the two marques ..

Roger,
It is to use so you can get an idea of the parts prices here and you can say "I have a mate in the states who will ship it for half the price " as a bargaining tool.
So you put the money in my NZ account first and then perhaps one day I will get around to sending it to you.
Does that sound like a fair deal ?
(Ken )

AHCCNZ events - Healey related photos, by Mark Donaldson and Ross Cammick
These photos, some of which have appeared on other threads belong here.
They are from AHCCNZ events in the late 1970's and February 1981,
Mark Donaldson's pictures of me driving my Uncle Eddie Dowding's LHD Rover 3500 at a gymkhana on Bruce Belton's farm, near Waiuku, what was Franklin County, South Auckland. February 1981
very spirited but casual driving, arm on window ledge, probably to hold me in place. same event.
Ken H, not quite as sideways as the TR4 got ..
three Ross Cammick photos of other Healey events;
a mid winter run, which was at the 1981 National Rally in Rotorua includes Ross's car HL3000 and others. pic appears elsewhere in this thread with another of the same stop ..
a Gymkhana event which may have been at the Bruce Belton farm. I am unsure, but remember it was near the water in the Waiuku - Glenbrook area,
BSA Healey and Sunbeam, a mixed lot at AHCCNZ events, as many Healey owners had cars that were not mobile, two of the guys in the photo actually jointly owned a Big Healey at the time that was more or less a chassis with some parts. BSA owned by Lyle Chambers [ sitting on Bill Povey's Healey beside Bill's wife Kathy ] and the Sunbeam owned by Richard Leaper [ peering into the Healey ] Bill also looking into his Healey ( passenger side ), Judy Leaper sitting on the Sunbeam.
The BSA being driven by owner Lyle, passenger not known [ not remembered ].
