Kiwiboss wrote:Great pictures Sloper and was great to catch up for a chat, same with you Ray but with the wind, rain and hail it didn't want to leave my trailer!! Please note all the under 3 litre cars and British O3L are known as "Historic Saloon Cars" with our bigger cars as HMC, so it was two groups racing together, mind you under these conditions the big cars didn't have there own way and this made for some great racing. Hillsy Hills in the red MK2 Escort was a star performer and was great to have 'old racer" from the past Bob Hyslop back in his RX2 a car that he's owned since 1979. And although we don't care who wins it was good to see Gary Riata(AKA Ron Jeremy) in his XA Falcon Coupe picking up two and Keith Sinclair had his first in the big Hemi Cuda with a hard fort last race going to Kerry Chadderton in his 911 Porsche.

If this is as good as it gets in Historic racing im happy with that, shit conditions but great FUN all-round!! bring on the Festival.

Yes it was a cold, wet, windy day but it was also a great day with some great racing. . looking forward to the Festival

Great photos: 're the #69 Escort looks like the Fahey one apart from the number. Is it a replica? Restoration? It looks great!!

Looking at badges it's a Twin Cam, Faheys was an FVA and from distant memory, did the Fahey car have round "lights" (if any)?

Great pictures Sloper, looks like an adventurous day out steering through Puke's concrete tunnels and trying to stay off the sodden margins. Also looks like we're in for some great action at Hampton Downs in January if this wintery turnout is an indicator.

That Fahey Escort was one great looking car! I remember the screaming g sound it made only bettered by his next car, the Capri. Was the FVA engine the most powerful of the racing Escorts?I have always wondered. This is the perfect place to ask

I don't know if I dreamed it or if someone actually did tell me that the actual Fahey FVA Escort is being put back together. Does anyone have any knowledge on this? I would have thought any such project would be unlikely to hold claim to much of the original given the unquenchable thirst for parts, and the lack of value for anything no longer competitive, especially something as commonplace as a Mk I Escort body shell. I would love to hear what happened to this fabulous little race winner.

Think this pic might be a clue, actually did it race at last years Skope meeting or was that a replica.

Think So, IIRC these pics were taken by the current owner while both cars were in the Burkes Motor Werks shop in ChCh.. Capri should be looking fairly complete by now, the pic is from a thread he started about the Capri a few years ago, titled something like from ''Pukekohe to Coronet Peak'' or something.
