Minis and Imps

The car now. Restoration nearly finished. Owned by Donn Anderson in 65/66 then Peter Sharp. Just trying to look into history. Richard Pugh owned from 67-69 and raced it around the country. He painted it all white with sponsors on and then all red before selling to Barbara Lang who used to take it to the port road drags and it did quite well clocking 114mph over qtr mile. I'd be interested if anyone has photos. I'm told it was in a support race for 68 Puke Grand Prix and 68 Levin Grand Prix among others. Driver then would have been Richard Pugh. Richard fitted a 1275 S motor in 67'. The car is now back to the original 1071cc.

Brian Patrick had 3 Imps, first one he wrecked at "cabbage tree" on a track I don't know off.
second car is this one above, JR and Brian both ran this in their early days in endurance events. this car was sold to Moss Tait.
It was sponsored by L & P or something like that, others maybe able to help on this?
I believe this car no longer exists??
Just after the second car was sold they got the sidchrome tools deal, so the 3rd car was purchased and became the sidchrome imp.

Shortly after selling the second car the sidchrome tools deal was offered, Brian purchased the third car and this became the sidchrome imp.

Re: Minis and Imps
There was originally 2 'Cabbage Tree corners' I think, 1 at Levin and the other at Pukekohe
Re: Minis and Imps
Was the Moss Tait car the one which Noel McGechie ran?

Don't recall one at Pukekohe. On the original 1963 circuit the corners were Elbow, Loop, Railway, Hairpin and Esses. No doubt there was the odd cabbage tree on the site, but I don't remember a corner named after one.

Seaqnmac will know, his uncle Gordon was the spanner for most of Bryan's cars. Bryan Bate was a really forcefull driver too, got the most out of his machinery. Years before it ended up with Bryan I think Gordon Edwards or someone else (Masterson?)
raced it at Bay Park. Chug Hagitt could give us the history for sure.
SpMan and others, I do remember the Ted Thompson car, this is a photo from the Quickfire Club Circuit meeting at Pukukohe that was televised. has been posted before on another thread, but belongs here !!
