Yes even those days it was a pretty valuable car to be rallying on those roads.
Mark was soon seen in a BDA Escort for the next season and was very quick.

I went to high school with Alan Mitchell's nephew, he used to quiz me on what I knew about his results. Especially the 81 Raly NZ

Thanks Rod, - here's a few more from the 81 Hamilton Tarmac Rally. A few different cars here. This was evidently very fast and a little scary for some co-drivers.

Camaro was Mick Quin and the RX2 2 shots later was behind him when it went airborne into a paddock at a great rate of knots.
both circuit cars out for a skid. The RX2 was a hand full and well driven/owned by Tony Rutherford with John Chiverill siting with him. John was another convert with Tony from Rodding, and actually built the little Angle box I ran way back then. he was also a very good car painter.
