The yellow/black Mk 1 Cortina is my old Cortina cobra, in the hands of the original owner Jim McComb. The Comaro #17 is Bruce Jenner in the ex Coppins car.
A small side note about the Cortina. Jim told me at the time of purchase that it had the ex Fahey 289 in it, and a photo from the Shell Motor racing yearbook of c68 where Paul is looking at the engine backs this up. However, in another thread, when talking about the Kennedy Capri (which I think is the one shown here), someone spoke of putting that engine into the Capri. Confusing.
That's the ex Fahey Mustang in Rod McElrea's colours #147

Loving all these photos Lindsay, keep 'em coming!

The Camaro #91 is John Riley in the ex-Joe Chamberlain/Dennis Marwood Trans-Am car.

These are great. Farrar and Baker raced these 2 Camaros in the South Island Supercar races. Farrar raced this Camaro in some GTX Races and I think this is the car today that is bronze and has Crown Court sponsorship on it. Bakers car is this the beginning of the Big Brother Camaro ?. I have never seen these photos. Help me if I am wrong.

On seeing these I will upgrade the files I have on the GTX Camaros. The Baker car is a 70 1/2 and the Farrar car a 71. The nose on this was changed much later to an RS front. Thanks Lindsay. I think you are right Grant, late 74 early 75.

Rolling shell went to stock car track, cant remember whether as 'B' grade saloon or street stock. Motor, Brakes, Trans went into the OSCA Chevette Derek built after this.

Derek MacRae's Torana Chev looks as if it might be lining up for the then 'Southern 200' at Ruapuna. Am I right in recalling you co drove with Derek in this Jac Mac? Another OSCA car in the race was Steve Vigurs Capri Chev which he co drove with Rod McElrea. The Southern 200 rules required the use of street legal radial road tyres, which must have been fun - 500 HP and Reidrubber! Also in the pic, the rear end of what I think is Gary Edwards Camaro Z28.

I was trying to remember whose the Camaro was. Yes, apparently entries were slow forthcoming and the organisers decided to allow OSCA cars subject to the road/radial tire requirement. We did win, but it was an introduction to motorsport politics at best! Apparently nobody had told Ron Silvester ( Event Sponsor) that OSCA cars were allowed & he was a bit unhappy, ..... however was good fun and they wouldn't allow us a second bite at the cherry a few weeks later at levels, so we shovelled the whole kit into a road going Capri Shell... should have quit while we were ahead... we were knackered from lack of sleep prior to event, the Capri handled like a piece of crap unsorted & Derek finally put it out of its misery by giving one of the trackside earthmover tyres a nudge.
I reckon hero of the event was TC who did it solo in his XY non PS Falcon GT. Had blisters to prove it!

Tafro? Engineering , Christchurch, not sure where the patterns/molds for that stuff ended up, he used to make rubber bushed rod ends for hot rods etc also. Think Dereks still got at least one set with BBS style centers, wont fit young Jacks Speedway bike tho!!
