Havent posted for a a while, and I return with some great news- I have been in contact with Peter Gunther, he bought the Skoda V8 off Trevor Crowe 3 years ago. He is currently getting the engine done and is looking forward to running with us at the Ice Breaker in September Hopefully he will being doing a post here on this iconic car with pictures as well. This apparently was the last of Trevors toys, and survived the Christchurch earthquake when the garage didnt. Always fantastic to meet new new owners of these HSS who want to run them. He told me he loved everything about this radical car, especially that it was a V8
Hi all
Yes Ray am itching to get the beast on the track up here on the North Island.
I will try get some more pics as the build goes. The motor is currently at Sparg's Auto Centre to be checked over and then we be putting the heart back inside the beast. I hope to have a shake down or 3 before the Ice Breaker later this year.
I was asked by the Targa organisers if i would be keen to go to SI for this years event but the car will unfortunately not be ready on time for this. Everything going to plan I look forward to racing with the ERC and the HSS.
For those who may be bemused as to how it fits in the ERC group, we have had a policy for many years of allowing in a limited number of cars with engine transplants subject, to various criteria. It is because we opened the door to cars like this that are not covered by T & C rules, that we could not enforce CODs as a prerequisite.
I have just received some very interesting pics from Jim Barclay of our favourites from the 80s. This is an early one of Graemes Charger at Pukekohe 1979. The background cars make for interesting examination also- cant see many rice burners. Will post some more this afternoon. Just noticed- no rear spoiler

Manfield 1983- dont have any details on what caused this, maybe left front tyre took an early retyrement. Also rear spoiler is now fitted. Wow, this is 4 years later................... .
heres another serving- old Pukekohe track , December 1984. Barrys Monaro has the original smaller flares on the rear wheel arches here. Graeme is in third,Jim Short in the Porsche 911 also here. Any one want to put up some names?

This is from the Manfield International January 83. The report in NZMN reads:
McElrea had blown a radiator hose and was dropping down through the field. Addis came up to pass the Cortina through the Esses and the two cars touched, pieces of fibreglass flying everywhere. McElrea retired at the Hairpin with his right rear tyre punctured, while Addis's previously immaculate Charger, now with tyre marks down the side, completed another lap before retiring.
Bryan, I wonder if it is a age thing as when young we have selective hearing (experiencing this with grandson) and as we reach the other end of scale we only listen to what really interests us as well.
Hey Guys, Just want to say its been great to run my XF Falcon (Fairmont) with the HSS Class, bit of a dream to be sharing a grid with the likes of the Addis Charger, Sidchrome Mustang, Algie monaro, alfetta, Custaxi.. ect...ect... Thanks to John for making me feel so welcome and doing a great job of co-ordinating the class... I hope I didn't scare anybody with the flame thrower at the NZFMR.... settled it down now, was much better at Legends, Cheers Nathan.
