So few new posters these days Russ that it hardly seems to matter, as most of us are known anyway - Ray

No secrets here, its just the informality and norm in much of today's social media -
But for the record: trackside enthusiast, former flaggie and lap-scorer (showing age) & customer of John Bennoch.

Hi, Russ. Rod Grimwood IS my name and I am so happy I did not have to come out of the closet. Mind you these days we may be a minority in the eyes of some of the "wimps" who call themselves parliamentarians, as we don't hold hands with our mates.

Had couple of nicknames in past "Drifty' , "Rose" "Grimme" and also been called other names by some.

Never been a 'wimp' but have definitely seen/meet a few.

Cheers Russ, don't forget that 'cyber bullying' is now an offence.

OK, as Lindsay has said above, this is normal in todays social media. All forums have people using nom de plumes. In the case of this site, their chosen names often relate to their cars, wish list cars, racing heroes etc. There is nothing sinister involved and I don't have an issue with it. In fact, compared to many other forums, I'm surprised by how many people on here actually use their real names! And think about it. If we all used our real names, eventually we'd have the situation where someone couldn't join, because they share the same name as an existing member. For example, if the famous porn star Steve Holmes decided he wanted to join, he couldn't, as there is already a Steve Holmes on this site.

What's in a name? Even though I've been using my name for the past 72 years, I'm not sure if it is my real name.....I've been called lots of other names !

Cheers,

Greg Mackie ?

The name we have every day for all our lives is the name our parents gave us.
Here we can finally call ourselves what we desire.
I enjoy the creativity here and the balls of someone who wants to be known as Old Fart

Seaqnmac27 was meant to be Seanmac27, anyway, its all due to me being Sean McBride and 27 a nod to the great Gilles Villeneuve.

Hi Russ, now that some of us have stepped out of the closet and with just one face how about a response to this question below. I think that's the least you owe us for stepping out.

Russ, would you like to explain who or what you are getting at???......

Me too...

"A rose by any other name..."

Sometimes it can be useful to use a nom de plume so that the great unwashed or even your employers, can't pin anything on you. Unfortunately, some posters cannot resist naming whistleblowers (which is a shame), so I am happy enough if people want to use one. Without some of them (particularly on another board), many of us would be in the dark about some goings on.

On this board, I wanted a platform for our race series, even though 80% of my posts may now be personal.

PS: Wasn't it John Holmes (not TACCOC!) rather than Steve Holmes that was alluded to earlier?

Hello Dave,

My thanks to all those who have responded. Because of certain laws in this country I am unable to divulge the closet dweller in question. Let's just say he's already responded and it wasn't any of you who let us know your true identities. Certainly not "old fart".
