John, firstly google `Cambridge Cigarettes Logo' to see the different layouts. Click on the relevant picture to make them bigger. As a bum fluffed 16 year old apprentice, I can recall the dark blue being `Zenith Blue' and the light blue being either `High' or `Sky' blue on the Dulux super enamel brush paint charts, so if you can find some old Dulux paint charts you`ll be able to colour match them in Automotive paint.

[quote="John McKechnie"]Just wondering if any one out there would happen to have one of the Team Cambridge decals from this period , they were stick on and were available at the tracks.
I want to confirm the colours.

I can be of some help. I have a decal with no fading though whether this would be accurate enough to pick paint I don't know. I may have more info to come, if you want to PM me your email I'll be in touch. Incidentally I'm not sure if you've noticed but the stripes over the cars on the Saloons were offset ie. not centred. I always thought it was a mistake on just one of them but they all appear to be like it. Looks wrong to my eye because it's only slightly off but I guess if you want to be historically correct you wouldn't change it.

And then there are these, a bit bright but i'm sure John will make them look like magnesium as they were.

By the way John I remember your Monaro was owned by a guy I know. his name was Quentin Fletcher and he had a butchers shop in Sandringham. He eventually went with a few of my other friends to the US and they all lived in Riverside. He returned about 3 or 4 years ago and apparently lives somewhere in Hamilton. Also just before I bought the siddy I had decided to build my own Sports sedan, so I bought an XW falcon GT 351 4 speed for $3400.00 that had been hit in the rear, repaired it changed it to an XY and repainted it (track red) and fitted aluminum cologne type flares that were bolt on, just in case I needed to convert it back. The rears were some 15 x 15 Mawers with M&H slicks that I bought off Nick Lefting at Greenlane Speedshop for $350 and the fronts were 2 15 x 8 Magnesium wheels with Goodyear slicks the same as the ones in your photo that George Bunce gave me. Just as I got the car to the track the sidchrome popped up so I quickly removed the flares, put all the upholstry back in it and sold it for $7500.00 to a guy Danny Clark who ran it in Prod Supercars for a bit. Nick Lefting sold the wheels and tyres thru GSS for me.

That's a good choice John by not removing the opening forever.....old race cars should still show their history. Nice wheels, Cheers Bruce

What about getting in touch with the owner of the T70? That must be well researched?

Rhys-I read the well researched article out of Classic Car mag on T70
However I want to do my own research as I have the original white in excellently preserved condition and its different to whats on the Lola.

John, Cambridge was owned by British Imperial Tobacco distributed in NZ by that company in Napier...still there today. It is a gamble but why don't you contact them, explain the situation and ask them do they have the old records of the paint colours used in advertising. Most corporate companies were very strict in regard to advertising and had references to the correct paint colours to use and the paint manufacture. Best of luck, Bruce

I tried contacting the US company who now "own" the brand. They said they did not have any records of the color codes. (Worth a try :) )
