No it is the original car but of course it has been restored. I photographed it at Pukekohe a few years ago when it visited from Australia

The Ardmore-winning car was rebuilt into the MkII, which was written off later in 1954. Some of the salvageable parts went into Maybach III

The car in your picture was re-created in, from memory, the 1970s (while Maybach III remained complete)

David,is this the car that in the early 2000's John Shepherd built up?

Whichever recreation it was, the #2 car at Pukekohe was driven by Bob Harborrow from Melbourne, who was originally from Bluff NZ!
