cheers guys. You both are right. It looks like it is a Birrana 274.

Looks like a typo in the race program. Its listed as a 1976 Elfin 700 - 1600cc - Red/Purple/Green - Driven by Phillip Lane.

Its not the only error I have found so far in the program.
In the Vintage & PVT race, the cars #129 1960 Triumph TR3A & #19 1960 Stanguellini FJ arent even listed in the race.

Lucky they have them listed on Natsoft.

Cheers guys, theres a few more still to come that I'm still editing.

There was some drama during the 1960's Tasman Revival Feature event though.

The race was Red Flagged after the start when Eli Solomon's 1966 Brabham BT18 had some issues getting going.

Image

All the cars had returned to pit lane again while the track was inspected & some issues fixed. At this point the divers must of been cooking in their cars with air temperature in the 40's.

Image

At this point I had decided to retreat to the shaded grandstand as well which provided a good view of what was to happen next.

Well like I said some drivers must have been cooking in their cars due to the temperature. Another driver Eric Swinbourne in his 1969 McLaren M4a was nearly cooked in more spectacular way when the car caught fire.

Guy on the right with cap and fire extinguisher in third-to-last and second-to-last photos is Garry Simkin, a regular contributor to the RS.

The official in the orange overalls with the blue fire extinguisher on the right of the photos appears to have not been told how his extinguisher worked.

A very valid point Roger, this does happen, and most are there on a voluntary base and we appreciate them giving their time, but some one needs to make sure they are trained with the gear. Have seen this enacted a couple of times over the years, and it is not their fault.
The guy in blue t-shirt looks like he had clues, looks like he is trying to activate onboard unit. (is that what the red container at rear right is)

PS That little Mclaren is one of my favorite cars, love it. Thanks for saving the baby.

Agreed Rod. Its not the first time I've seen this sort of thing before either. I'd guess that the guy in the blue shirt was trying to fire the onboard extinguisher but IMO it didnt look to be working, which may be the reason why the driver bailed out earlier.
