yes rogered you are correct it started off as a 924 gtr
it is currently being rebuilt as the 924gtr again

alan also purchased a 944 cup car from the factory in 88/9 he ran one round of the porsche cup at winton(another mechanic and i drove it up there)
in that race it was one of the most unbelievable "drives" i have ever seen, didn't bother qualifying
back of the grid on slicks, when it began to rain whilst on the dummy grid(most of the field were on wets)
he finished 3rd

i have a feeling
it was labelled as a 944 as a marketing ploy for the upcoming release of the 944

sorry to drag up an old thread, but love the stories and pics from this era of when i was a kid
and i now get to work on these pieces of history

from my research have read that the bill brown car was written off in the late 70's

Here's a few photos that might be of interest, although I think they might be from 1969.

Fantastic pics Powder. The first and third pics of Jim McKeown and Brian Foley are both 1970, and I'm pretty certain the middle photo of Alan Hamilton is from 1969 as you mentioned.

Will the GTR return downunder ?

Was the Hamilton 944 Cup Car successful in early Targa Tasmania, in Mad Andys hands?
