Old Race And Road Car Ads
Re: Old Race And Road Car Ads
Wow......C49's. These were the latest thing in tyre technology in about 1964, even though they were still cross-ply. So special they rated a mention in the above 'works demonstrator' ad. My Dad had a set on his MKI 2.4 Jaguar, fitted by no less than Wally Darrell, at his ACE tyre shop in Christchurch. The 2.4 didn't have the sort of performance to test these things out, but they seemed ok for an odd blast into the countryside.

Wow, incredible! Do you have dates for the Ferrari ads? A 250 SWB for $6300! I know, I know, houses were probably cheaper at the time, but still it makes for interesting reading.

Beechey Ad is from August 68, his first appearance was at the"First Big Bay Park" meeting, December 30 1967.
I have a couple of pics and articles regarding Bay Parks first couple of meetings but am not sure where to post them. I will b e looking at 1969 tomorrow Friday, 18 / 5 / 12.
