There are a couple of comments I need to make: The smoke alluded to in the post of the Castrol GTX Saloons was cement dust - someone had an oil spill on the back straight. The XU1 crash was a doctor from Palmerston North whose name eludes me at the moment. He broke his arm in the crash. At another meeting a Formula Pacific crashed in about the same place. I don't remember any of the detail and the picture I took didn't come out too well. It's nice to know that others are enjoying what I took 30 mumble years ago. That's enough from me for now. Barrie
Ok now for some colour ones. Some of these I have already posted, however they may look a little better this time as I have reduced their size correctly this time. I am giving tags to the images if I know them and Dad hasn't given one otherwise they are as Dad has tagged them
The Williams' Alfetta at Manfield
Algie Alfetta at Manfield passing Grindley RX3 and in the background Lawrence Bruce in the ex Dawson Camaro
The Richard Attwood photograph is one given me by cousin Kelvin Richards. I was resident in Wellington at the time and unable to attend any sort of motorsport event.
Ok so primarily Tulloch Capri, but front of the Algie Alfetta, in the back Ken Hoberns Anglia and I think, could be wrong Brian Bate's ex Vuyk Stilletto, are there any actual pics of this car floating around from Mr Bate's ownership. I know Bob helped him with the engine and my uncle Gordon McBride worked as a mechanic with Brian on it for a while.
The 1st unidentified Commodore on post 24 is Trevor Mclean from Papakura Automatics. I have a full pic of it somewhere.
The Jim Stone Cuda in Post 30 is actually Ross Stone.
Thanks Tony, and I stand to be corrected, but is 11 the Commodore David Oxton shared or is that 3 in the same post. The Cuda was a silly mistake of mine.
I think you are right about the #3 Commodore and David Oxton. I am sure someone will correct us if we are wrong. Awesome shots by the way. So many great memories from the days when as the cars from one race were driving off the track, the next was coming on.
Ok so Rod McElrea in the pits during practice for the Manfield round of the international round 81/82. Heres the thing though can anyone identify the bewinged white car on the straight in the background.
